Spangler, I will not argue that point with you at all, I sat up in the concourse box seats behind home plate. I could not tell at all about high/low, but inside/outside was pretty clear. I remember at least 2 pitches that Flynn threw that were on the outside part of the plate, not even on the corner, but over the plate, that were called balls, and then CU would come out and throw a pitch 6 inches off the corner that he called strikes. For a division 1 umpire, I would expect a lot better.

Anyway, I'm elated that we are going to the regionals, but more happy we took 4 of 5 from those loud mouth clowns.
So, with a 2 1/2 year old and now a 2-week old in the home, you will have to excuse me if I'm not regularly on.
Lastly, I don't expect much in the regional. We will no doubt be a 4 seed, but the experience gained from this upcoming regional will do some of these young guys wonders. Especially our starters.
When my second one was set for a scheduled C-Section I vetoed the home game days. When he came early I said it was ok, there was no game that day. There was the next day, and I was there.
You make time for the things that are important :good:

Random thoughts from the 1st base line.
What a night....what a night.
Every played mattered....I can't remember a non-NCAA tournament game that every single at bat seemed to matter.
To quote Abe Lemons.......that game made coffee nervous.
I don't feel bad for CU fans but I do (just a touch) for their team...they play great defense and are fun to watch. It's a shame they don't have any fans to appreciate the half dozen or so spectacular plays they make in the field every game.
Is it just me or does every throw to McKeever have you clutching the rail hoping it doesn't bounce?
12 walks, 9 hits, 2 errors and we only give up 2 runs...that's got to be some kind of record.
The CU left fielder that stole Sossaman's home run may have been the best big game play in the history of the Eck....the diving catch by the Irvine centerfielder a couple years ago was better...but not much.
From where I sat (admittedly a long way from CU fans) I thought both fan bases were good. CU fan has every right to cheer for their team and I did not think it was anywhere near obnoxious...and WSU fans were very complimentary of the good Bluejay leather and gave them a lot of cheers for their All Tourney selections.
Both teams shaking hands after the game was good to see as well. You could just see it in the CU kids' eyes....they knew they were up against the juggernaut that is WSU.
I felt terrible for Charlie barely even able to throw a fastball for a strike and absolutely nothing else....I think he threw 1 deuce for a k...one.
Brian Flynn was nasty at times tonight....Cooper, Lowell and Flynn is a hell of set to face the next 2 years. When Flynn learns to pitch he is going to be dynamite.
The one-six-three double play may have been the play of the season.
A more perfect evening I cannot have imagined a month ago.
I love the Coastal Room come Valley Tournament Time.
Bill McGuire did not have a great game.
Amanda Moore is really attractive.
3 more items:
1)I will not apologize for stealing this year's bid. We have carried this conference for 3 decades and if get there once when we didn't deserve it, so be it. Somebody else carry the water....we've carried more water than Gunga Din.
2)What do you think I could have gotten in Vegas on Ryan Engrav getting the Valley Tourney MVP a month ago? 500-1......10000-1?
3)NCAAs BABY!!!!!!!!!

My take on tonight's game. First, I don't make it out to too many baseball games. I do follow the team during the season though. This was my second one of the season, the first game being the "Game that didn't matter" on Thursday. What a nailbiter tonight was. I agree with most here about the outside on the right side of the plate not being given to us at all. The play at home was close. Live, I thought he was out. On the replay I thought he got around the tag. I could not believe how many times we got out of jams. We got out of more jams this one game than most teams face in a week or two. My blood pressure had to be 200/110. For the number of Creighton fans, they were pretty loud. The eck had a great atmosphere and I also wanted to mention that Coach Marshall and Lynn and the kids were in line behind me coming in to the game. It is great to see them supporting the baseball team. Anyway, I look forward to team getting better from this experience and I have to say that Sossamon came up big for a freshman in a game as important as this one was.
Go Shox!!!Shocker fan since December 28th, 2005!

Amanda is one of many Shocker volleyball players that regularly attend the baseball games. I understand that there is a fair amount of social interaction between the 2 programs, which seems odd when you compare height.
I'm just sayin'.......
Again, what a fantastic night.
Please tell me that the archive on Shockerradio will be available sometime....I really want to hear Mike's call.

Hmmm...
It just occurred to me that if Lee Ridenhour had joined the declining Shockers instead of his team of the future up northeast, he wouldn't have to be wondering whether an 0-3 floperoo in his conference tournament ended his season, as it probably did -- he'd be looking forward to regional play, just wondering where.
Gee. what a shame.

hmm, well it is pretty common for athletes to date each other i guess, so there could be a lot going on with volleyball/baseball players. This was the first game of the year I was able to attend, and I really was starting to doubt our chances once Lowell left in the 4th inning, knowing how our bullpen has been this season. Gotta give credit though, this team fought hard tonight and earned another berth to regionals

I heard somewhere that Cooper is draft-eligible after his So season. Did he have a RS year or a year off between HS and WSU?The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

You're right, but it's an age thing....Jordan is a freshman but he is a 20 year old freshman (turned 20 May 10) so being 21 before the draft will make him eligible.
