They’re also claiming that kitty fans outnumbered us last night. I wasn’t at the ballpark so I am curious to hear what the mix was from those in attendance.

There were a lot of them but to say they out numbered us is inaccurate.

I would say it was 3 or 4 to 1 in favor of WSU. There were quite a few there, but I'd almost say there were more Nebraska fans here when we played them...they seem to come out of the wood work. As for the number of KSU fans, you could notice a pretty significant difference in cheering levels or maybe it was KSU fans are so new to baseball they didn't know when to cheer.

What university did they learn to count at if they think there were more KSU fans?

I agree with MartyMooses assesment of the numbers.

The purple does seem to stand out so maybe that confuses them. In my whole section there were only 3 or 4 Kstate fans. I know in other sections there were more, but there weren't very many at all in any of the blue seat sections.

They also have trouble counting fans at their home games. Their numbers always seem inflated sometimes in the past they have been vastly inflated.

I listened on the radio. It sounded like a home game for KSU, when we made a good play. We are new to actually caring about baseball. Between us and KU, things are only going to get more difficult for Shocker baseball.

I was there and I would say it was pretty close to half and half. I was in a box and had a full view of the entire crowd including the seats below the box. I would say 60% WSU fans and 40% Kitty fans. I was very impressed with their turnout. To bad they only showed up to watch their kitties this year because they happened to be ranked.

Good point regarding the crowd noise enginerd. I think that can be attributed to the placement of the mic near the nosebleed section where most of the K-State fans were seated, in addition to the excitement of the K-State fans watching their 'cats beat the Shox. Sounds like you did have a pretty good turnout though. The Shox are kind of used to that from the visiting teams.
I don't think Shocker fans need to worry much about K-State stealing any recruits away from the Shockers. You might have the Big XII on your side (for now), but the purple colors and Manhattan quickly negates that advantage.

In the stands I would estimate that WSU fans outnumbered the purple clad fans 2:1. Out on the hill I do not remember seeing much purple. There was a large group of KSU fans directly below the broadcast area. However knowing nerd he did not actually listen to the game and only heard the cheering on the news when KSU scored. :wsu_posters:

"the news"? I didn't even know "the news" covered college baseball. I figured "the news" was busy with stories the public cared about, like spring football practice, josh freemans draft stock, and michael beasley.

Yeah, college baseball doesn't matter. That's why you joined an opposing university's sports forum with the express purpose of trolling in a college baseball thread.

Believe it or not, in the biggest city in the State of Kansas, WSU baseball receives exponentially more press than the three items you just smacked on. I guess they find the program gets more traction and ad revenue out of the roughly 600K people in the metro area, than the color of John Weeeefold's last bowel movement, or other associated Tractor Tech University news.

Are those issues even press-worthy in Manhattan? I figured the local media would be too busy addressing cattle siring, meth production, and the annual redneck breedfest held right outside town.

                            Git 'er done, K-State!

Without a doubt, Wichita coverage of WSU baseball garners more attention than those KSU topics at about a 20:1 ratio.

I refuse to go read the Cat board because I like K-State and I don't want to stop liking them because of a few newbie purple idiots.

I'll just keep asking the question:
Would you, K-State fan, right now trade your best season in history (which is this year) for either of WSU's last two seasons?
