How have you come to that conclusion exactly? Have you seen him play either? Seems to me that if he fits in one sport more than the other it may well be baseball, being that he was drafted in the 7th round out of high school. Now that's not my .02. That is just based on the information we have on him and what I have seen of him on the court from high school clips. I haven't seen him play baseball at all. Gene says he has very quick hands though and is much better at the plate than you would expect a 6'7" guy would be. He definitely has power but he really likes to pull it over the fence from what I've heard. Anyways I'm just curious how you've reached the conclusion that he belongs on the court and not the field?
      Doesn't 6'7", good hands and power = 1st base?

He can't be on a baseball 'ship if he wants to play basketball no matter what his best sport is.

            Scholarships

DU, when you only have 11.7 scholarships to divide up, anyone who's worth having -- and a seventh round draft choice out of high school would certainly be considered worth having -- that you can get without having to give a scholarship is a big, big bonus.

You can bet that Gene is delighted to have basketball pay the freight for Coy, even if that somewhat reduces his availability. By the way, Joe Carter started out at WSU on another sport's scholarship (football in his case, much as I hate to give Cold ammunition).

I thought he wanted to play both sports. Maybe I am wrong.
First a Baseball fan then a Volleyball fan and then I guess I follow the basketball team.

He does. But if you play both basketball and baseball you have to be on a basketball 'ship and not baseball. And because of that he will be with the basketball team until the season is over since they're paying his way.
