This is great news! A 7th round draft pick should be a good addition to the team. :wsu_posters:

If? Johnny is not going to play basketball until next year and can play baseball this year why not start baseball when practice starts on the 1st of February?

Because he's on a basketball scholarship and that is where his #1 priority needs to be.

Every day he gets to practice with the team is that much more he'll be ready for next year.

Given that he missed the fall, if he doesn't join the team until March, I think the odds of him contributing this year are pretty close to zero. I hope he's eligible just in case, but I just don't see someone coming along that late and playing.

Of course you all know the question.

Can he hit a D1 curveball?

We have seen quite a few highly touted recruits that could not.

                      Can Johnny?
Let's hope he can hit a D-1 Curve ball!

True, but I bet the Phillies also asked if he can hit a curve ball and were apparently satisfied with their answer.

Didn't somebody draft Randy Walter when he couldn't hit a curve ball?

Well they say that Joe Carter couldn't hit a curve ball either. And to be honest he didn't real well at the time but being the player of the year kind of overshadows that.

Randy Walter was no Joe Carter
