If anyone would like to catch one of Aaron Shafer's games, they are broadcast free when the team is at home at www.boisehawks.com The announcers aren't anywhere near as good as the Shockers announcers, but the video quality isn't too bad. Aaron is starting tonight.

Looks like Dirks is finally back on the field... and being a pest as usual.

Yesterday afternoon Shafer took the mound for the Boise Hawks while Coleman took the field for the Vancouver Canadians - both former Shockers had a great day... Shafer faced the minimum through 5 allowing only 1 hit with no walks and 6 strike outs (the one time he faced Dusty, Aaron got him to hit a grounder to the shortstop) . . . then in the bottom of the 9th in a 3 - 3 game... Coleman hits a walk off double for the win...

          Former Shockers in the Pros

Just a quick update on Matt Smith and Dusty Coleman
Matt is in Ogden doing real good so far he is 3 wins 0 losses ERA 2.55 in 17 Innings pitched he has 18 strikeouts.

Dusty is now in Vancouver and is scuffling a little but im sure it is just a transition period. So far he has played in 5 games with 19 at bats 3 hits for .155 avg.

Just a thought Matt Smith , Jared Simon , Ronnie Morales . They were seldom used while at W.S.U. but since they moved on it seems that they are performing better. Im sure that there is a valid reason for it but just seems odd.

Matt had a great year! led his team in batting average and RBI's. Looks like the tribe is sending him to Columbia to play winter ball.

Travis Banwart is doing well in double A.

Capra is doing well in advanced A

Matt Brown is (at least at this current time) tearing up advanced A league.

sublett, dirks, jared simon, conor, and shafer have respectable stats in single A league.

Notes from Baseball Prospectus prospect guy Kevin Goldstein on two former Shockers in A-Ball.

Anthony Capra: "The highest draft pick in the rotation for Kane County is Anthony Capra, a fourth-round pick out of Wichita State. While he doesn't blow anyone away with his stuff, he's clearly too good for the Midwest League, as he sports a 2.14 ERA in his first four starts, striking out 28 over 21 innings and limiting the league to a .187 batting average. Capra has fringy velocity at 87-90 mph, but he complements it with an outstanding changeup, a plus secondary pitch that he has the ability to locate exceptionally well to both sides of the plate. With that pitch, he's just far too much for hitters at this level. As one scout explained, "He's got side-to-side with his fastball location, and now with that changeup, he can go back and forth as well. You can do that at this level, and these hitters don't have a chance."

Dusty Coleman: The two best position-playing prospects on the team might be the left side of the infield: fifth-round pick Jason Christian, who has slid over from shortstop to third base this year, and Dusty Coleman, a 28th-round pick who signed for an over-slot bonus of $675,000 as a sophomore-eligible selection. Coleman has been a big surprise for scouts, batting .309/.404/.556 with surprising power, especially to the opposite field. In a shallower organization, he'd receive more attention, and based on the early scouting reports he certainly deserves it."
