I think they are really close to calling this game. It doesn't look like the rain will end anytime soon, plus there is hints of redevelopment.

Rain delay again. WSU leads 9-2. Shocker pitcher Anthony Capra had trouble with the muddy mound, which led to the umpires calling a halt. WSU and UE players are putting the tarp on.

WSU 9, UE 0, bottom of the first: Now it’s a race to get five innings in before rain hits. It is misting or drizzling now. More may be on the way. Andy Dirks is 2 for 2 with two stolen bases and two runs after one inning. The Shockers sent 13 to the plate in the inning and recorded eight hits.

I have a question: has anyone else grown annoyed with the Shockers losing hitters after getting them down 0-2 or 1-2? I counted during the UCA game and we lost 6 guys like that; 4 of them scored? Why do we throw throw-away pitches? I've never understood that.

Well, star, in a 0-2 or 1-2 count, you never want to give them too good of a pitch. I'm guessing you already kind of understood that. When you're up in the count like that you have some room to work with. You never want to give up a 2 strike yack.

Well, obviously the Shockers are in 'desperation mode' to get this win.....

Over an hour and a half delay.....you just don't do that to a pitcher, and when you already have a 9-2 lead, it makes even less sense.

Whatever happened to "we take care of our pitchers?"

Christ, crap like this is why I had been avoiding this site. I came back to stay on top of the crazy schedule this game was on but it just isn't worth wading through this stupidity.
