Evansville vs. Shox 3-game series

There is absolutely no excuse to lose to Evansville. Ever. That is a terrible team. And you know what? I think WSU is too right now. If they play tomorrow, they probably lose. They have let Evansville get some confidence and losing to a team like that only takes more out of a team.

WSU doesn't deserve the NCAA tourney. They don't deserve to win the MVC tourney. They really need to get left out so that maybe they will pull their heads from their asses and WAKE UP!

Wow -- just when you think the Shocks have hit bottom and put their worst loss of the year behind them, they come up with one that's even worse.

Three whole hits, all in one inning, against a guy who came in averaging almost 16 baserunners per nine innings. Just great -- but what may be even more bothersome is the Shocker pitching. Musgrave was bad yesterday -- don't let the errors and the unearned runs fool you; seven hits and four walks in 5 2/3 IP against a weak-hitting team is a bad outing. And Shafer was bad today. Again, the three fatal unearned runs in the fifth, which scored on hits, were deceptive; there's no damn rule against picking up your defense when they boot one. The bottom line is that Shafer pitched poorly against a bad offensive team and really hasn't been the same pitcher this year we've seen in the past. As if that isn't enough, Capra has pitched poorly his last two times out as well. If those three don't step up, WSU has no chance against a regional field.

This is a team that, unless it wakes up, is working on playing itself not out of a regional host spot, but out of the field of 64 altogether --- and if they manage to do so, they'll have no sympathy coming.

What a bunch of chokers. Dusty Coleman proved to be a fluke at the plate in the early going. He took advantage of early, weak pitching and padded his stats. He is probably the most inconsistent player I have ever seen both at bat and in the field. Un-freakin-believable.

Our defense is now as bad as our hitting. Beyond lame and pathetic.

We're trying to piss away a Valley title.

If we're lucky we'll get a No.3 seed in a regional and win a game.

There goes another season down the toilets. Next year could be even worse than this year.. in fact, count on it. If Gene's still here next year, it'll break his streak of 40-win seasons. We won't win 40 games. I'll be the farm on that one.

Oh, and I doubt we'll ever get back to Omaha. We've settled for mediocrity.

As much as I don't want to agree with you on that, I believe you are correct. Is Augie still coaching somewhere? If not, can they just let Gene get one more than him then have him step down?

And I believe there are many on here that doubt we'll ever make the trip back to Omaha under this staff.

Fever, I agree with you, this team has issues. However, I think every Shocker fan including myself believed this team was better than it actually is. We bought into the hype when the Shox won 19 in a row but didn't take the time to step back and reflect that the majority of those wins were against poor teams.

We let the name Shocker Baseball and past tradition get in the way of rationale thinking. We just assummed it would be another great season of Shocker baseball. Now as the season is winding down, and the Shox have been exposed to what they truely are, an average team, we are all upset.

We are definitely not used to seeing this type of team, but the sooner we realize this team is just average the sooner we can accept their poor performances and move on.
