Some of the posters on here are unbelievable. If 27-6 with no bad losses and a #5 national ranking aren't good enough for you, you will probably never be satisfied. We are absolutely spoiled rotten.

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

We literally watched this game go by.
I'm starting to believe that we are an inflated team with a padded record. When it comes to playing the best teams, we choke.
If we take care of business in the Valley, we'll probably still end up hosting... maybe.
You can kiss that national seed goodbye though.
Very, very disappointing.

This isn't college basketball. In college baseball, especially when you're in the MVC, you need to beat ALL of the solid teams on your schedule to make your post-season easier. Baseball is different. Teams play 60 games a season. 27-6 isn't enough if you've barely beaten anyone. 5 wins against ok teams isn't going to give you the opportunity to host. And when you're as good as WSU is, having the opportunity to host is why you play the regular season."You can observe a lot just by watching."

In my opinion, we are highly overranked, every good team we've played has beaten us. Don't give me this TCU sweep crap, TCU is not that good of a team. If we can't beat nationally ranked teams, we have no business hosting a regional. Yes, 27-6 would be an outstanding record if we played in the Big XII, or the ACC, but we play in the Missouri Valley, which is typically not a good baseball conference. Therefore, we get punished for it. In my mind, if we win 40+ games and only lose 10-15 games, then yes, we should host. But there are too many factors that tell me we won't.

Oral Roberts, at home.
TCU, at home.
Nothing against a ranked opponent. Nothing on the road.
Like I said, the record is good. But it's a tad inflated. Canisius is 26-4 right now. How good do you think they are?Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

Don't get me wrong shockerfever, I can agree that the TCU sweep was 3 good wins, but I don't put TCU in the same category as Long Beach or Nebraska. I see quality wins as wins over nationally ranked teams. Now I'm not sure where TCU is ranked, I know they weren't ranked when we swept them, and they still may not be. But you and I both agree that this Shocker team always loses the really big games in the regular season.

We can beat ASU and wipe this one away. Split with OU and O-State, win our game with ORU, win the Valley and our resume to host is fine....but probably not a national seed unless a bunch of teams in front of us lose, which is possible. We stunk tonight at the plate, but I've watched enough baseball to know not to get too high or low from one game. We were in the worst hitting slump in the history of the Gene Era two years ago and then proceeded to knock the crap out of the ball at the regional in Norman. Remember JT was going to be fired?
Who was the guy on here a couple of years ago that Royal banned that said we choked all the time-H2O Shock maybe?Because Denny Crane says so Dammit!

Washington State is also a quality win. They nearly took the series from ASU over the weekend.
We may be ranked a little high, but we were very much on the same plain as Nebraska. I sure wouldn't be scared to meet them in post season and they are a legitimate top 10 team according to everyone. So we are about right where we need to be although the pressure does increase to win these games.

I agree, one game doesn't make a difference, it is however, dissapointing, that we decide to play 4 of our worst games of the season against Long Beach and Nebraska. I've already said how I felt about our chances of hosting a regional. We should, but we may not if we don't get some quality midweek wins. I really don't consider losing 3-0 a choke game, however there's no doubt we choked at the plate, especially in the last inning. I agree, it could be a lot worse, we could be Evansville. lol
