5th shutout of the year for WSU pitchers. Steele continues to shine.

Think about that - one-third of our wins have been shutouts. I hope Brian Walker let's Mike kick him in the penis as hard as he can before they leave campus every night.

Can't complain about the run support tonight. 7 runs should be plenty in most games the Shocks play.

The shut out drops the Shocks ERA to under 4 at 3.89. Yes, HCMS deserves a :encouragement:.

We may have been a little hard on Walker regarding the offense. Butler was the hitting instructor at Arkansas for 8 years and his bio says he is known for developing strong hitters. Walker's bio lists recruiting before hitting in his duties. Nevertheless, I'm still surprised he brought Walker who was a volunteer assistant at Arkansas the 2 previous seasons.

          Thanks.

Zach Lewis has lowered his ERA to 2.70 (from 6.75 a month ago). Seems like he has turned into a very solid #1 starter. Kudos to him.

MSU's team ERA sits at 2.62 after last night. Pretty salty staff this year.

Watched the Shockers 3rd and 6th inning at bats on the replay.

Both Alec Bohm's home run Joran Boyer's home run came on hang curves. Alec's home run was a no doubter. Didn't need help from the elements. Not sure Jordan hit his quite as well but it cleared by plenty.

All 7 Shocker runs were scored with 2 outs.

Shocks getting some nice contributions from Freshman lately, Alex Jackson looks really good. Noah Croft getting more comfortable at the plate. Jacob Katzffy leading the team in hitting. Hope Jacob's back doesn't become a chronic problem. Looking forward to seeing what Tommy Barnhouse can do on the mound today. He is up against a tough customer in Michael Baird.

SIU's caps and uniform trim looked purple to me. Is that just faded burgundy or are they changing school colors? Or maybe I am just color blind.

2-0 WSU to the bottom of the 3rd. Barnhouse sharp so far, allowing just 2 hits and no free passes.

Salukis score in the 4th on an errant throw to 1st by Vickers on what would have been a pretty sweet play, allowing a runner to score from 2nd. The Saluki hitter is thrown out trying to advance to 2nd.

                      2-1 Shox to b4.

Bohm clears the bases with a beautiful opposite field double to the gap in right on an 0-2 pitch, Shocks stretch the lead to 5-1. Hitting Baird well this afternoon.

SIU gets to Tommy with back to back doubles to start the 5th. Tyler Jones on in relief with WSU up 5-2 and a Saluki on 2nd with nobody out.

Not only an 0-2 count but a two out situation as well. Those are the kind of hits that can really pay off.

                                Sloppy 5th for the pitchers.

5-4 WSU to the bottom of the 5th.
