Yes! Now lets not schedule them unless they play us in basketball
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kickass ... and I'm all out of bubblegum.

I agree. I was really encouraged by the pitching staff performance. KU does have wins against Texas, SWMO - so no game is a gimmee.

We have no leverage there. We probably need them more in baseball than they need us due to the relative strengths of our respective leagues.

Anyway, I want to play KU in any sport, anywhere and anytime we can get the chance. Same with KSU.

          It's good for all involved.

Good win. Pitching sounded great. Also, great execution all night - moving runners over, etc..

OK, ShockerNetters what's a win over KU worth. Be sure to go to the ShockerNet home page and chip in on the ShockerNet Buiding For Excellence Campaign.

Remember for every $10 you contribute a $5 matching contribution will be made.

So far we have 6 good contributors to get us off to a good start.

We really could use that indoor practice facility and the new field turf.

Let's do our small part and create some goodwill for ShockerNet.

I could not agree more KC - our pitching SUCKS! Kelley lasted only 5 innings, and allowed no earned runs. Three pitchers allowed a total of 5 hits, walked 0, and struck out only 14. Pretty friggin' pathetic. We need to get our sh%t together.

Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy pitching went well tonight. I like the fact that you seem to think tonight's effort is going to be status quo for the remainder of the season for the mid-week games.

Come back to me tomorrow night and talk some $hit when we face ORU then onto OU, Nebraska, Okie State and AZ State instead of 155th RPI ranked KU. Although, I will say whether they are 1 or number 301, anytime we beat KU makes my week.

If we win half our mid-week games by year's end, then I'll bow to your know-it-all ass.

Wait a minute, it sounds like I'm wanting WSU to lose to prove my point about our mid-week pitching. Screw it! Hays, you the man and I'll go ahead and accept your belief that tonight will be status quo for the remainder of the season.

Well, lets face it, you do come across as somebody who only comes around when something negative is happening to WSU.

Why not just go ahead and give Shocker fans your prediction for the remaining of the the non-conference games.

I'll take the over for $100. If we win more than half our midweek games from here on out, you contribute an extra $100 to the indoor practice facility. If we win less, I'll put in the $100. Either way Shocker baseball wins and one of us is forced to put our money where our mouth is. Deal?

Let's face it, I'm reaching the 2,000 post milestone and they haven't been all negative posts or comments made when something negative has happened. Gimme a break!

                        Predictions huh? Here you are:

We will lose Wed. games against ORU, OU twice, OK State, and AZ State, we will also lose at Nebraska on Tuesday.

Wins will be against the next KU game, KSU twice, Central Arkansas, and ORU on Tue.

So, we go 5-6 for the remaining non-con mid-week games. We lose to ORU, OU and OK State because we will be throwing our number 5. We will lose to Nebraska on Tuesday because that place is just tough to win at. We may win AZ State because we play Central Arkansas on Tuesday. I bet we save Kelley for the AZ State game and throw Maune against C Arkansas as this is a team we should handle easily.

You didn't win because you have the lifetime achievement award.

A froshie pitcher gets jobbed because Josh can't handle a routine ground ball and surprise it takes him some work to get back on track.

                            After that he is solid.

As for Logan Hoch, he was very good tonight. Shame he didn't get to finish, but his dad should be proud.

Bad. The cold I'm sure kept a lot of shocker fans home. Last year was much better but last year was also a year after KU mouthed off.

I can't stress how great the pitching was tonight. I was sitting at an angle I'm not used to sitting at (1st base side) but I could tell that our guys were freezing the ump over and over again. Also Wetzle blew a call at first when he was not in position to see the play.

So really KC, until you come and say hi at a game or at least watch one on TV and see the stuff that Kelly, Hoch, and Flemming are throwing just drop the tired act. These guys have good stuff and they are learning by playing KU, etc. Even the best pitchers can get hit around, but I expect these guys to be just as money as they have been against all the teams you are so worried about. 0 ERs won't be the status quo but throwing good pitches and doing it the BK way will be.

WSU needs to throw a weekend starter at ASU to win that one. I haven't seen ASU play, but their offense is seemingly looking better than last year, which is extremely scary. They lost one big piece recently (Petey Paramore) for an indefinite period with an unknown leg injury (they've concluded there isn't a broken leg and now investigating the knee). I don't know how good their new DH will be, as the old DH will now be catching.

That said, Nebraska is scary, too. Those two will be tough.

Nice to get the win. Now on to ORU. Hopefully they get the game in tomorrow, with a 70% chance of rain forecasted for Wed. night. Should be close to 50 degrees and humid, so it should feel better than the KU game.

Also I can't stress enough my happiness in the execution by our guys to chip away at the KU lead and buy some insurance too. I've seen too many baseball teams that just couldn't do that. Yes, I wanted more cooked numbers and home runs and the like but getting runs home on infield sacrifice ground balls still gets runs home. I'll take that over popping them up and striking out.

Also also, I still score E1 on the pitcher for making the dive at RJ's pop up bunt and then dropping it. He got his glove on it and didn't make the play so in my book, E1 all the way. However, that was the best horrible bunt I've seen in a long time. It was right in the dead zone and it would have taken a crazy good catch to make the play. Had they just let it go, I think the ball had spin on it to go foul. Bad baseball IQ there.

Finally, the KU radio guy was awful to listen to. You could tell he knew nothing more than what he remembered from these guys and what the books said. Every time he called us the Wheat Shockers I wanted to throw a brick through his window. He also liked to call us the bad guys a lot. Our crew needs to get their FM action going again.

Bonus finally, I was on the jumbo tron (which really does put ours to shame) flashing the shocker for most of a between the inning. Go me.
