Yes, one was. Alex Segal, a 6-4 LHP out of Scottsdale, Arizona Chaparral H.S. and who signed with the Shockers this past April was taken in round 38 (#1152) by the Blue Jays.

I'm sure that Willie Schwanke was as disappointed that he did not get drafted as Sam Tewes was happy that he went in the 8th round to the Cardinals.

Question is will Willie try to sign on as a free agent or come back for his final year of college eligibility?

So the Shocker draftees where Jr. Sam Tewes (8th round), Sr. John Hayes (25th round), Sr. Chase Williams (35th round) and Sr. Tanner Kirk (35th round) plus incoming recruit Alex Segal (38 round).

              Good to see Tanner drafted.

Goshockers.com lists Caleb Eldridge as an incoming recruit picked in the 20th round. I don't think he had ever been announced anywhere as a recruit. Looks like he hit .391 with 16 HR at Cowley as a redshirt freshman after sitting out a year at Oklahoma State.

Interesting. That's a pretty good draft. I wonder what the chances are of him ever wearing a Shocker uniform especially since his recruitment has not been previously reported? I guess will see.

Congrats to Sam, John, Chase and Tanner.

Willie's likely return next year is good news.

Draft results for each Valley member:

                      Bradley:
                      Jr. RHP Matt Dennis 14/410
                      Sr. LHP Cam Roegner 22/651
                      Sr. SS Tyler Leffler 27/825

                      Dallas Baptist:
                      Jr. OF David Martinelli 6/167
                      Jr. 1B Darick Hall 14/407
                      Sr. LHP Colin Poche 14/419
                      Jr. SS Camden Duzenack 23/677
                      Sr. OF Daniel Sweet 29/858

                      Evansville - None

                      Illinois State:
                      Sr. C Jean Ramirez 28/840

                      Indiana State:
                      Sr. OF Stpehen Owen 25/765
                      Sr. 3B Andy Young 37/1126

                      Missouri State:
                      Sr. RHP Sam Perez 5/143
                      Sr. OF Spencer Johnson 16/487

                      Southern Illinois - None

                      Wichita State:
                      Jr. RHP Sam Tewes 8/256
                      Sr. RHP John Hayes 25/745
                      Sr. RHP Chase Williams 35/1041
                      Sr. 2B Tanner Kirk 35/1051

I think it is notable that 12 of the 17 Valley players drafted were seniors. The remaining 5 were Juniors including Sam Tewes who saw no action in Valley games either of the past two seasons.

Tinkham really Johnny Coy'd his season. It's really too bad careers ended that way.

It looks like Willie Schwanke is planning to return next year. I was very surprised Willie wasn't drafted. If he can stay healthy this would be a huge benefit to next year's pitching staff.

Cowley's Caleb Eldridge, a WSU signee, signed with Philadelphia today. Eldridge is a 1B/OF. Phillies drafted him in the 20th round

8th-rder Sam Tewes inks w/@Cardinals, $100k (pick 256 = $172,900). Wichita St RHP, 90-95 & plus SL before TJ in March. Good gamble @MLBDraft

Seems a bit premature. $100k is nothing compared to his potential.
                                We hardly knew the guy.
