Watching on ESPN 3. Absolutely embarrassing. Empty stadium on a sunny Saturday. Some of the worst AB's I have ever seen. No attacking mentality, swinging at breaking balls in the dirt and taking fastballs. More defensive swings than swinging with a purpose.
Just my 2 cents, but I also question the kids that Butler and staff are bringing in. Sure they are big, look good in a uniform and have a "presence" but there is more to it than that. When you have kids on roster that were not even born the last time we went to Omaha, those numbers on the fascia become less and less relevant. Hopefully we are looking to get some kids that have grown up in the program....kids that have been to games at Eck, gone to camps, grown up as FANS of WSU and the baseball program. These are kids that you can win with. Kids that are at WSU because they WANT to be there, not because it was the only D1 offer, or whatever else...but because they have WSU #1 on the list of schools they want to play for. I see a team with no heart, no fight, no energy or pride, but more disturbing...mentally weak. It's been a long time since we had a class that had the mentality of wanting to leave the program better than what they found it, and it shows.
