They did a good job of getting runners home with less than 2 outs tonight by putting it in play.

Feels good to beat a team that doesn't suck.

That it does. Very nice work by Willie Schwanke. I only saw the last 3 innings but it looked like the home plate ump had a very pitcher freindly strike zone and Willie took full advanatage.

The offense got some help from Cal Poly's defense and really did not need much because of Schwanke's effort. Willie went 8 and probably could have finishd it off but after picking up 2 runs in the 8th to go up 6-0 there was no need to push the envelope. John Hayes pitched the 9th. He struck out the side but also walked 1 and hit a batter and it took him 24 pitches to navigate through those 5 hitters. Willie through a total of 99 pitches in his 8 innings.

Hopefully, Zach Lewis is on his game tomorrow although it is unlikely he will get a strike zone as big as Willie had to work with tonight.

As is the case all year, they'll drop the next two.

I want to chastise you for such a niggling naysayer statement but I can't because your concern is well founded.

I think we filled our quota for playing like an actual baseball team for the year. Props to Schwanke on a solid night. Started a little rough but retired 12 in a row a one point.

We have been watching. Speaking of watches you can set your's by the Shocks losing 2 of every 3. Really going out on a limb with that prediction Fever.

The Shocks do have some chance to break the trend IF Zach Lewis, who has pitched pretty well this year, can give them 7 strong innings of work on Friday.

Let me make this comment and follow with a question (and I'm sorry if this has already been addressed in the other active baseball thread) - I'm all for building confidence and relaying to a guy "Hey - we know you have the stuff and we're going to keep giving you the ball in relief", but what's the deal with Tyler Jones?
