The fact that Todd could be a great guy, be loved by his players and the community, and be extremely successful on the field and you wouldn't like him is really telling. And obnoxious. And stupid.

I am glad for what Gene accomplished here, but I don't feel that his heart really ever came back to Wichita once he accepted the OU job and then had a change of heart.

Why don't you just come out with what exactly your agenda is and who you really wanted to get the job. This program is so hard for me to support, not because of the new coaching staff, etc. My only agenda is to see us win and I don't care who does the coaching, etc. It's fans like you who have other agendas that have moved me from being a full supporter to not really paying attention to the baseball program. I haven't been to a game in years and never listen on the radio anymore either. It's a good thing we have basketball.

Thanks for your opinion though, I always appreciate it, but I really don't care what you think. I'm a fan of WSU baseball, regardless of who the coach is, and that won't change. I support the team and that's all that matters. Have a nice night sir
The only things I care about in a Wichita State coach are:
1. Good representative of my university
2. Winning
Being part of a certain coaching tree or having a certain name is not on my list. I personally know people who were put off by Gregg Marshall after meeting him personally. They have their own opinions about Gregg but they are more than happy to pay for season tickets and support him however they can because they know how important he is to the university and this city. I get the feeling you would rather lose with certain guys than win with Todd Butler and that doesn't really make you a "fan" of WSU baseball, imo.

Every time I have met coach Butler he has been a complete gentleman and super nice.I honestly believe if you want to dislike Butler you really have to try to.For someone to say they won't care for a guy no matter what he does for Wichita State is just plain stupid.I go to every home game and will keep going next year.I will always stand by the program and support Coach Butler as he is our coach.Time will tell if coach B is a good coach but I can say that by my experience he is a good guy.More than I can say for our previous coach.

I'm not on his bandwagon yet either. But let's say he takes us to 10 CWS and is a positive member in the community while not being involved in controversy after controversy...and you and whoever else still don't think much of him, then yes that is very obnoxious and stupid.

Now can he get it done on the field? I hope so.
Can he coach and motivate? Well if you look at what his team did over the last month - it would seem the answer is yes. They got better. The team could have quit and instead dug themselves out of the hole.
On the question of BBIQ complaints - that would be my complaint about this program for the last decade. So it maybe a generational thing instead of coaching issue.

In order to be able to compare him with Coach Adams we would have to interview those who have left the program. I think we would find it most interesting.

I think his time was up at WSU years ago and he certainly didn't help his cause with some of his actions off the field. That said he is and always will be WSU baseball. Chances are wsu baseball would be non-existent without him. I most certainly didn't like this time ended here, and I have absolutely no respect for our wannabe AD because of it (as well as other things). That being said, my opinion on Todd Butler is what it is. I'm not a fan of him. Maybe he can win me over in time, but not right now

From Sullentrop blog
WSU coach Todd Butler signed a seven-year contract in 2013. An administration does not fire Gene Stephenson and then give up on its choice as replacement without giving him a full chance to succeed. So if you’re wondering about Butler’s job security, you can stop.
