I wasn't really a fan of the hire because he doesn't pass the Wikipedia coaching record test (I made this up but it is usually a pretty good predictor of success). With that said, I will support him until there are reasons not to. This season doesn't matter in evaluating him, as far as I'm concerned. He needs to show some sort of improvement next year. If the team is not winning at a decent rate in Year 4 then there needs to be some serious evaluating.
I think this is a valid concern regarding any head coaching hire. I still believe/hope that HCTB can right the ship, especially since he retained PCBK but time will tell.

The big question is, will I get next season's tix at 2 for 1 prices?

When's the last time WSU baseball lost 7 straight?

      Irrelevant.
      Deuces Valley.
      ... No really, deuces.

Just understand, Butler wasn't the first choice. Wsu went after a proven winner and he pulled out before the interview. There wasn't a lot of people beating down the door to come to WSU, the cupboard was bare. The reality is a "butler" had to happen to pave the way to hiring Hooper.

I don't recall if we ever got an answer about whether Hooper meets the requirement of having a degree. Is that really a requirement and, if it is, does he meet that requirement?

Either Hooper or Standiford would be fine by me.

Maybe I am misremembering - but I think the answer was yes he was qualified on Hooper.

I got tickets at what was essentially 6 for 1, and at this point I'm not sure if I would use that $25 for the same use today if given the choice.

Might just have to give out free tickets next year.

Thanks for the silver lining in these doldrums... and I mean that seriously.

EDIT: And I'm not sure the DBU guy would have been a homerun anyway. I was pretty 'meh' on him at the time.

Just enroll him at North Carolina -- he won't need to actually physically be present to take his one report courses and he'd graduate in no time.

If there wasn't huge interest, it's because no one wants to follow a legend, no matter how much bloom had fallen off the rose.

If this level of performance continues throughout the year I predict Coach Butler will instruct his Administrative Assistant to allow the players to purchase non-baseball gear at a discount on the program's Under Armor account with the hopes of getting these 1st two seasons vacated and erased from the record books.

Seasons don't get vacated, just wins. Seems like it wouldn't be worth the effort to remove so few wins from the record....

Any chance HCTB gets rid of BK to buy more time?

That was one of my big concerns when people were clamoring to fire Gene. I hope this Butler thing works out. But my biggest fear seems to be playing out. We still have 75% of the season left. I really hope things turn around soon, but my optimism is waning.
