Small sample-size alert, but some stats that give me early concern:

Pitching: 13 BBs vs. 12 Ks
Hitting: 4 BBs vs. 30 Ks

No typos in there. Just over 1 BB per game to 10 Ks per game from the offense. Unless you're going up against 1st-round pitching talent every game, that's awful. 7.5 K/BB ratio. Last year it was 1.67.

As for the pitching, you can't walk more than you strike out and expect to win many games.

I didn't watch any of the games, so maybe SHSU just has tremendous plate discipline and command of their pitches. Whatever the case is I hope both are just a single-series anomaly and it improves greatly over the next few games.

I listened to most of all 3 games, including the entirety of games 1 & 3 @RoyalShock: Lots of called strike, especially 3rd strikes. Most of SHSU's hits in game 3 for infield singles and they are a fast team. It sounded like the Shocks played low-IQ ball for all 3 games, which suprises me with all of the juco guys. I will be listening to most if not all of the ORU game and I hope they get some mojo. Regardless, I will be there Friday for the opener vs TSU, even if I am wearing my Denali or duck hunting gear.

      Go Shocks!

You won't be listening to the ORU game this week it has been cancelled and they will try to reschedule at a later date. I predict you will be wearing your hunting gear for the TSU series.

It is looking like moisture so no puffy down warmth. Thank goodness my family are avid duck & goose hunters, we have plenty of cold wet weather gear to go around.

I won't be able to make any of the games this weekend, so if anyone wants up to 8 seats in the yellow chairbacks, and is willing to either bundle up or freeze their grapes, I'd be happy to give them away.

We are old school, Under Armour is relatively new to the game, so no under armour ;)

Game of interest: Sam Houston St. up 10-0 in the 9th on Texas State.

This probably goes without saying, but the Sam Houston State / Texas State game really underscores how meaningless RPI is this early in the season (and probably just in general for baseball). We didn't play yesterday and our RPI went from 180ish to 20ish as a result of Sam Houston St winning.
