kind of surprising when I heard this - supposedly Butler recruits "Power" arms, but they sure are not overpowering anybody yet.

I was listening to the game on today's run so I could have missed some of the detail but Shane Dennis was commenting on how the pitchers were under throwing, meaning they usually throw in the low-90's but have been in the low to mid-80's. I can't help but wonder if the stats of rowing speed was indoor vs outdoor for such an across the board disparity.

I haven't followed the games any closer than on twitter so far, but how has the offense and pitching been so far in your thoughts compared to last year?

To answer your question. I think it is still too early but this 1st weekend has been anything but encouraging. For now, I would definitely hold off on making your reservations for Omaha this June.

It was not a total failure weekend and with a little different game 1 performance of individuals could have been good weekend. Problem is this team was recruited to win this year, not rebuild this program long term. There is a lot of warning signs that hopefully were just Series 1 jitters. If not - the this could be another painful year.

Reading the article in the Eagle gave me jitters. Inability to hit the ball out of the infield, strike out city, pitching struggles.. It's like reading about every other WSU baseball series dating back to the 2005 season. Exluding the Andy Dirks 2 years.

We would always kid about the question "Can he hit a D1 curve ball?" I hope our pitchers can throw D1 pitches. Really. Having almost as many walks as strike outs? If they don't pitch any better than that it may not be a rebuilding year for the pitching staff since no one would want them come draft day.
