Small sample-size alert, but some stats that give me early concern:
Pitching: 13 BBs vs. 12 Ks
Hitting: 4 BBs vs. 30 Ks
No typos in there. Just over 1 BB per game to 10 Ks per game from the offense. Unless you're going up against 1st-round pitching talent every game, that's awful. 7.5 K/BB ratio. Last year it was 1.67.
As for the pitching, you can't walk more than you strike out and expect to win many games.
I didn't watch any of the games, so maybe SHSU just has tremendous plate discipline and command of their pitches. Whatever the case is I hope both are just a single-series anomaly and it improves greatly over the next few games.
