  • Gm 58: vs ISUR/SIU Loser (MVC Tourny - Gm 3)

WSU (30-27) now await the loser of the ISUR/SIU game. Either opponent should be a winnable game.

Not that it matters a whole lot, but who is everyone pulling for in SIU-ISUr?

I guess I'd like to see SIU win- the odds seem higher of them dumping two in a row on Thursday/Friday.

ISUr has played good baseball at some point this season. Not so much the last 2-3 weeks, but they were playing good ball the first 2/3 of the season. SIU hasn't really played good baseball at any point this season. So I could see some logic in the argument @Play Angry: makes.

As with all baseball tourney's I'm rooting for a 2-1 17-inning game in which all pitchers get burned, and no hitters get hot.

8AM again. Then later in the day again if we win.
          Basketball Season Tix since '77-78 . . . . . . Baseball Season Tix since '88

We play the loser of the Illinois State - SIU game at 8:00am CDT tomorrow with the loser eliminated.

The winner plays the Illinois State - SIU winner at 3:00PM CDT tomorrow to try and force a 2nd bracket finals on Friday at 11:30am CDT against the same team.

If the Shocks can win both games tomorrow and the if needed game on Friday they advance to the Championship game at 7:00pm CDT on Saturday.

Times are assuming no weather delays and no extra-long games.

The Dawn Patrol rides again in Terre Haute. Good thing it's probably an easy place to get to bed early.

Regardless of who makes it and how many losses they have, if any, is it a 1 game winner take all on Saturday?

Yes. Dictated by TV of course and thus the current tourney format. TV wants to know the game they are showing is, in fact, the Championship game with no chance for a "what if" game.

So you might have one team that is 3-0 in the tournament and one that is 4-1 in the tournament in the final game.

However, the tournament is stretched out enough to allow both teams to go with their #1 starter if they so choose. The Shocks would certainly make that choice and I think most teams would although I guess if you are a lock for the NCAA Tournament, like Indiana State for example, you may or may not choose to go with No. 1 guy.

Yes. The tournament is now set up with 2 4-team brackets (each like a regional). The bracket winners then play a 1 game winner take all on Saturday.

ISUb trailing MSU 4-1 with one at bat remaining. Wonder when the last time (if ever?) was that the top 2 seeds went two-and-bbq.

No. MSU threatening in the bottom of the 8th with the bases loaded and 1 out.

                              7-1, that should do it.
