It was interesting to see them pull Freeland after 5 innings (85 pitches) only trailing 4-1. Their pitching looks significantly thinner than what the Shocks can bring to the table but they may be more capable of outscoring teams if they have to.

I'm sure the Shocks will see Cole Isom tomorrow morning. Isom, a slightly built LHP (6-0, 160), is 6-5 has a 3.58 ERA and a 1.53 WHIP. Decent but not great numbers. Isom went 7 innings against the Shocks in Evansville on April 12th and allowed only 2 runs (1 earned) in 7 innings in a 13-2 run rule rout of the Shocks. Cale Elam started that game and only went 3.0 innings for the Shocks. In his outing vs Evansville/Freeland the previous day A.J. Ladwig gave up 4 runs (3 earned) in a 5-1 Shocker loss. The only relief pitcher Evansville used in those 2 games was Sam Johns who pitched a 1-2-3 9th inning in relief of Freeland in Game 1.

After that the Shocks had no trouble pounding Evansville 13-3 in Game 3.

Went 0-2 as a #4 seed in the NCAA?

            The King is dead.
An “Old West” Texas analysis and summary of Mueller report and Congress’ efforts in one sentence:

"While we recognize that the subject did not actually steal any horses, he is obviously guilty of trying to resist being hanged for it."

That could make the climb even less than Pikes Peak.
                Genius!

Although Ladwig didn't really dump them out of the tournament. Surprisingly the Shocker bats dumped Evansville. Specifically Chase Simpson and Dayne Parker.

Chase was 4-5 with 3 RBI's and 2 runs scored. Dayne was 3-5 with 3 RBI's and 2 runs scored.

The key inning was probably the 7th. The Shocks were trailing 4-3 with runners on 1st and 2nd with 2 outs. Dayne Parker delivered the tying run with a single to LF. Evansville walked Casey to load the bases and Chase came through with a 2-run double putting the Shocks up 6-4.

After A.J. gave up a 2-out 2-run homer to Evansville in the 8th that tied the game at 6-all Dayne delivered the game winner with a 2-run homer in the ninth.

That's the kind of clutch hitting the Shockers simply have not had this year on anywhere close to a consistent basis, especially late in close game situations.

But Ladwig gave up the two run homer in order to motivate our batters in the 9th. This is the new sophisticated baseball era we're in, right?

That almost makes sense, given Ladwig's season. That 1.11 ERA just wasn't motivating the offense enough.

I suppose that's as good of explanation as any. All I know is A.J. gave up his 1st two home runs of the year today and the Shocks won for the 1st time this year after trailing after the 6th inning.

Not sure what got into those BBCOR bats today but I have feeling a chicken may have lost its life early this morning.

                          Hahaha

That IS two crazy firsts to string together in one game.

The ball seems to be travelling well this week at ISUb. Haven't had a chance to see if that park is generally conducive to HRs and doubles.

Edit: Doesn't really look like it. HRs for and against for ISUb are very low (14 and 18).
