3 strikeouts in the 8th. The number of strikeouts the past few years is ridiculous.
Not on offense, but his defense is usually very solid. He's had a few get through today.

Gillaspie up with the bases loaded. I can smell the victory already. If he bats with two players on his back and carries them around, will they allow a 6R HR?

He strikes out. Hate to say it, but Gillaspie was pretty terrible today, and it hurt us.

Definitely not our day when Gillaspie goes 0-4 and strands a village on the basepaths.

Casey had four terrible at bats today. Disappointing for sure. Oh well, what else could we have expected from this group?

Not sure we have the pitching depth, especially in the bullpen, to duplicate that feat and it's hard to see this team consistently outscoring our opponents if we get into a slugfest. But I suppose there is always some hope.

Assuming Evansville handles SIU today we I at least like our chances of staying alive for one more game. But winning 5 games in a row will require a great outing by Kris Gardner (which is possible based on his performance last year and his last outing) and then someone else to get back to Cale on Saturday.

If we do get to a second bracket final game on Friday who do we turn to? Reagan Biechler perhaps? Garrett Brummett (although his 13.89 ERA this year is scary)?

I suppose no need to worry about that at this point.

I shall keep the faith until the last out of the last inning of the last game.

They just have to take it game by game, you have to think with every game they can survive their odds will increase. Seem like a mount Everest today, but maybe tomorrow if they win it only Pikes Peak.

My initial reaction was to think the Shocks need to face SIU tomorrow, but maybe if Evansville uses Freeland and loses anyway -- as they're currently trying to do -- the best outcome would be to face the Aces tomorrow and hope Ladwig can dump them out of the tournament. That could make the climb even less than Pikes Peak.

Looks like that is definitely going to be the case.

SIU leading 9-1 heading into the bottom of the 7th. Could be worse SIU grounded into an inning ending DP with the bases loaded in the top of the 7th.

That might've been better for UE, too. I want them to pitch 2 more innings, even if it's the bottom of the pen guys, it eats up options.

Looks like that is going to happen as well.

Wow, Evansville shooting themselves in the foot. They need wins, not to be playing games with their rotation. If they go 2 and Q their season is at risk to be over.
