Absolutely, but to try to compare the returning baseball talent to what Turgeon left for Marshall is both disingenuous and revisionist. Pretty sure Marshall's first team wasn't picked to win the Valley.

That's my only point: There is NO comparison between what Turgeon left (nothing) and what Gene left (MVC pre-season favorites).

I don't recall where wsu was picked when Marshall came in but there were expectation for that team because it had players like brauer and couz and Martin. It wasn't until brauer got his concussion when the wheels came off because of the point guard.

Wsu was picked this year to finish 1st because the mvc sucked last year and wsu was the only team with the most returning players. But the talent level in the mvc has greatly increased with DBU coming into the league, ISUB has surprised with their level of play with a new coach and Evansville actually looks pretty good.

The difference for wsu it looks like is wsu played a schedule ranked around in the 120s last year, this year that schedule has increased to the mid-20s with the improved nonconf schedule and mvc. Add in wsu injuries, suspension and we are seeing really where this program stands nationally.
