Good start for the Shox! Good pitching, some hitting, some small ball execution and bullpen closed it out.

Gotcha, I figured they might have their Ace out there.

            Thanks!

Actually, SIU-E did not have their ace on the mound today. Their ace had shoulder surgery in the off-season but still has some stiffness in the shoulder and will not pitch this weekend. This was probably their #2 guy.

My guess is that everyone was trying too hard to impress the new boss and may have been a little tight. The nice thing about baseball is you never have long to wait to get back on the horse again. Not a great effort today, but not really bad either. Enough to get HCTB his first win as Shocker head man.

Did you have to spoil it?

Watched the game from the outfield in front of the batters eye. Kept out of the wind and felt like it was 10 degrees warmer than it really was. Great turnout for as chilly as it was. Kudos to those that sat in the box seats because it was 30 degrees colder there. Besides the base running faux pas not a bad effort for the first time out against some one other than other Shockers.

I stopped posting in the baseball threads because every thing was always Fire Gene and that was just stupid.

It is hard to tell w/ everyone jammed in down low and spread out on the hill. Pretty good I guess? idk

And win big!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hate to burst your bubble, but this isn't the 90's anymore. NOBODY is scoring 20 runs a game against anybody with the new bats.

It's also the first game. It's February 14th. We're down a few key starters.

                              I'd say we fared ok.

But of course with you, it has to be 25-0 in every cream puff game or nothing.

                              ... No really, deuces.

#2 T K played a good game at short and #35 P Z played a better than good game at catcher. Shows some competition/depth on the team. As I lke to say at the games everbody hit. Shore up the defense a little. All in all a good start.
First a Baseball fan then a Volleyball fan and then I guess I follow the basketball team.
