I couldn't agree more. None of us wanted to see it come to this, but I actually have optimism about the baseball program for the first time in the past five years. I'm excited to see what some new blood can do with the resources we have.

I'm not opposed to having a new blood line come into the program. My only question is can a successful hire be made to complete that transfusion? The program is still there waiting, but it doesn't matter if the wrong guy gets put into the driver's seat.

Again, there have been some really GOOD memories of WSU baseball over the last 30 some years, about 25 or so that I remember of. It's rough to try to just erase that one constant with that past.

I think I'm gonna go take a break and watch the 1991 CWS Creighton-WSU DVD that I received from one of our great moderators here not long ago. Boy, do I long for those times back..

I would rather take a gamble trying my hardest to reascend the mountain than stand idly by while the program crumbles further. This is the right move. In 72 hours or so when the emotions clear, I think a lot of those wavering will agree.
I hope you're right '89. And I don't necessarily disagree. But you're right. I thought I knew what the right move was for the last 2 years but just today, my mind has wandered off into what-if land.. I guess when you're not used to dealing with coaching turnover at this school, strange things start to happen.

I think a successful hire can happen. I'm not too familiar with who is out there and/or what to expect. I assume Standiford and Hooper get thrown around alot primarily because not only former players but pretty successful at their stops where they have coached. Standiford has to go out and recruit now and Hooper is a pretty young dude who is enthusiastic enough to go out there and get it done. Either way both pretty big ifs.

I hope like hell though that the "new blood" is good blood

I can't stand what ADES has done (or hasn't done for WSU).
His decisions suck. His leadership sucks. His demeanor sucks. His midget bug-eyed stare sucks. His support of CU and the clock sucks. His stuttering "Mayor Menino" interviews suck.
His shitty Shockervision sucks. His "bury his head in sand" pussifucation sucks. His support of Elgin sucks. His lack of capitalizing on WSUs FF and getting WSU into a new conference sucks. His myopic vision for WSU athletics suck.
And I suck for allowing that midget punk to piss me off so badly. So before I get kicked off this board, I will bid you a fond farewell and wish you and the Shockers success.

I will return once the stench of ADES' decision has left my consciousness which for some of you will be all to short of a time.

              By the way..... ADES SUCKS!

              Go Shockers!

Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. Good riddance. Your one point agenda fatigues me and most on this board. You need a break from here and get a life.

So ADES properly addresses the one problem area in Shocker Athletics and you are pissed? Lack of logic, and a whole lot of emotion.

In case you didn't notice, WSU sports had its single best season ever.

Excuse my ignorance but why is there so much animosity towards ADES? It seems to me that Wichita State continues to produce in athletics year after year. Is he responsible for bringing these coaches in? Not really but isn't his job ALSO to make sure that everyone under the umbrella of WSU athletics has the resources and support to be successful? I'm sure he's made some mistakes along the way but isn't that to be expected from someone stepping into a job for the first time? What has happened in the baseball department is unfortunate but it started long before ADES stepped in and should have been handled long before as well. As it was stated before, now he has an opportunity to make a strong statement with mean gene's replacement. I'd rather take a wait and see stance about him instead of crucifying him for heading up an athletics department that has done very well over all since he's stepped in.

Well obviously he is the subject to criticism because he is a poor public speaker and can't excite a crowd to near hysteria and he doesn't look like Cllint Eastwood. Plus I think he is responsible for climate change and global warming if I'm not mistaken. Some of that may be pure conjecture on my part but what the heck.

Well, you got two things right, at least.

I'm one of Gene's biggest fans and advocates and have annoyed some people in the process, but I'm not upset or angry today, just sad and a little apprehensive about what comes next.

Good-bye, don't hurry back, and peace be with you. You can use the time out.
