WSU is a good job but it is not the king-of-all-kings job. Some of you act like if a job offer is made to someone, it should be an automatic that it is accepted. There are those of us who need to get over ourselves. Maybe WSU wasn't "spiritual" enough for him, maybe after reflecting on it he didn't want half of his assistant staff already chosen for him no matter for how long or short a period of time, maybe his ties to Texas are stronger than he originally thought, maybe his wife didn't like Wichita or didn't want to uproot his children, maybe, maybe, maybe. There could have been a dozen different reasons. The end result is that "the search goes on."
I like this. The last thing we want is a coach coming here with doubts. The guy we want needs to be ALL-IN for Shocker baseball. There is no shame at all in working through a handful of prospective coaches until both parties mutually agree it's the right fit.

    • I think Butler or Hooper would be fine picks. I do not think a realistic home run hire exists.

As for Taco Tico, all of the Taco Tico's closed in Topeka since they don't know how to pay their sales tax.

Recently I was driving through El Dorado and almost crapped my pants thinking about the multiple sanchos my body was going to inject since their Taco Taco was in fact open and actually looked kind of new.

      • Taco Tico is crap. Speaking of fast food taco joints, the West side bows to no one in the quality and quantity. Speaking from JoCo I wish there was one here, even close to the options in Wichita. I could probably keep a Taco Shop franchise in business myself here. Joco natives love their Taco Via..... Been there, its 10% as good and twice as much as any of the numerous places in Wichita.

Sigh... Im hungry now. Need about 12 tacos from Taco Pronto.

-I laid into a thunderkwb, a guy who represents us poorly on a forum filled with KU clowns. My post gets taken to task by ShockerFever, whom I'm pretty sure has less use of thunderkwb than myself.

-I get corrected by ShockerFever, who himself is a not exactly a professional novelist.

-SB Shock and DUShock both "like" ShockerFever's post, even though from what I can gather they are both personal friends of RDR - the most prolific internet forum grammar Nazi I've ever witnessed. Also from what I can gather, they are both friends of poster Shirley Schmidt (or whatever he is going by this week) - WSU's and possibly the MVC's biggest forum troll.

          Awesome!

The logic is appropriate when you consider a trip across town doesn't take an hour like it would in LA. I'm pretty sure anything within a 20 minute drive is pretty reasonable. Which would be, um, all of Wichita.

It's a pretty stupid argument you are trying to make.

topic, I'd like to see what Hooper can do. I think he has the fire to make things happen, the humility to learn what he doesn't know from BK, and the knowledge of the professional system to be able to relate well to players in the decisions they have to make.

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

Recently I was visiting a friend who lives just east of 143rd East and Central. From his house to my parents house on 21st b/t Maize and Tyler, it was a solid 30 minutes at least. Wichita is kind of big.

Oh, I grew up near 127th street, before there was anything out there. I guess I am an Eastsider, but I was 3-4 miles from the City limits.

what is your point - I actually know a lot of other posters like Pogo, Outpost, ISASO, Mo Valley John, etc.

2nd before you dog on Shirley - he is one of the most knowledgble Shocker baseball fans and has been to more games on the road following the Shocker Baseball than most of the fair weather shocker fans who only show up at HOME during post-season or when the temperature gets above 75.

The real problem with people like you - you take your self to seriously and think people really care what you have to say. When you figure out your just as full of it like the rest of us and that this is all just about having fun maybe you won't be so anal.

                        • I am hoping that Eric and Brent move beyond Todd Butler. What Arkansas has done since he has been there is very good and I like that very much. Kind of like when Gene was an assistant at OU before he came to Wichita.

But his record when he was a head coach previously is not very good at all. I thought to get some more information on the guy I would talk to a couple of good Arkansas fans that I know (one of which is a huge donor and is very involved in Hogs athletics). For what it is worth, both said they didn't like Butler. They really don't think he is a very good hitting coach (coming off a season when Arkansas hitting was really bad probably doesn't help their perspective).

One guy said that Van Horn is really displeased with Butler and wants to replace him.

These conversations did not help my comfort level with Butler at all. I realize he does have some good points, but recruiting to the SEC is a lot easier than recruiting to a Valley school. I still have confidence in Eric and Brent to find a good coach. I am hoping they move beyond Butler. I think he is just too much of a mixed bag.
