SMH at the possibility of this news becoming reality. I'll drive over to Gene's mansion in The Hawthorne and shed tears into beers with him.

Our 1st stay in C-USA Hibbs held his own with terrible facilities here and got an at large bid in 1998. Then we got shipped to the A-10 which is a terrible baseball league. We had a great amount of success in the league and were finally able to build a nice baseball facility. Won 5 Regular Season Titles out of 8 years in the league, and 3 Regional appearances. Playing in a north eastern conference hurt recruiting b/c no one in the Cariolinas wants to play at Fordham in March.
Next year is a big year as we finally have the facilities and are moving into a good baseball conference in C-USA. The fanbase is growing and we have seen a big impact on recruiting since announcing conference changes.
With the financial support you have there for baseball, Hibbs will no doubt be successful if he is offered the job.

Kemnitz sticks around, Standiford makes even more sense now.

Other teams in the Valley better not have greater talent than WSU, especially when the Valley is 15th in RPI. That is it, I don't expect WSU to be a national powerhouse but certainly an MVC powerhouse.

Kemnitz continuing at WSU should not be looked at as Sexton wanting to only hire a coach with Shocker ties, he told The Eagle. He emphasized it would be a national search and that there is no timetable to name a new coach.
