IIRC, Golloway was the first to throw his hat in the ring for the WSU job when Gene accepted the OU job.
I'm sure a lot of that has to do with his dislike of Gene, but it is hard to imagine him leaving Norman for us at this point.

Yes, that is a downward trend. If those 5 years are acceptable, much less upward trend, all this discussion is moot. You certainly don't need, nor should pay, a coach $500,000 plus to get those results in the Valley. The other Valley schools have proven that.

I would be stunned if Loren Hibbs wasn't considered or if he wasn't interested. However, he's had varying levels of success at UNCC where in 20 seasons he's had 8 at .500 or below. No doubt he can coach though. However, I'm not sure hiring a coach older than I am is what we're looking to do at this point in the game.
We could do a LOT worse than Loren Hibbs though.

I know a guy who played for Standiford at Tabor during the time he made that program a winner. He had good things to say about Mark and his ability to recruit. He thinks the reason he stayed in the area was not just to have good access to Wichita-area talent, but stay close to the WSU program for when this day arrives. It's possible I could have read a little into what my acquaintance told me, but I don't think so.
Anothing thing to consider is that you also have Greg Brummett nearby who could perhaps come on as pitching coach.

Obviously though, he's not leaving OU for WSU at this point.

There are probably some on this board that remember Golloway trying to fight one of our pitchers and then our entire dugout during the 2002 Wichita regional.
