Thanks ShockFever for the quote (I guess). I haven't been able to read Kansas.com since it became a pay site. But what does this have to do with the up-coming game?

I have been thinking about your starting pitching question. I think that we are probably going to go with McFadden.
McFadden pitched in the first game of the Big 12 tournament and so it seems logical that we might pitch him first in the regional. As I have stated previously, Starting Pitching is not our strong point. The tactical decision has been made to use Williams and Matthys only when it counts and hope that our bats can score early and blow games open enabling us to save the closers for another night. With that being said our starting pitching hasn't been horrible just not what you would normally expect out of a Big 12 Champion.
Flattery is a guy who I thought would pitch last weekend and I think something must have been wrong with him. Hopefully, if he is healthy, we will see him in this tournament and he would be my choice to pitch Friday if he is able. I think McFadden is our best but there are reasons to try and hold him for a probable Arkansas matchup on Saturday.
The main concern for your team is to try and win the game before Matthys and Williams are brought in. If Matthys comes in, he will most likely shut the door on you. He works the hitters and umpires well and generally gets an expanded strike zone because of nice control. Matthys is 8-1 with 7 saves and a 2.13 ERA baseball cap (KS on the front). 5 of his wins are in Big 12 play which ties the leaders in that statistice. Surprisingly he doesn't start games he just wins those tie ball games that he comes into.
Just not as good as our shutdown guys. Aaron LaBrie is our primary setup guy (4-1, 0.87 ERA in 52 IP) followed by Brandon Peterson to close (3-1, 10 SV, 1.15 ERA). That's what dominance out of the bullpen looks like.
This will be a fun matchup. Neither team saw the other's best pitching during the regular season. We'll see if our ace and bullpen can keep your offense in check.

Is it fair to mention that Matthies made 16 appearances against Big 12 Competition and that Peterson pitched primarily against the Missouri Valley?
Matthys, Peterson and LaBrie have each pitched against their Friday opponent earlier this year.
Matthys earned a Win and a Save in the two matchups against Wichita giving up no runs in 3.0.
Peterson got .1 out and ended game on passed ball in game 1. He pitched 2.1 with no runs allowed in the second matchup.
LaBrie earned the Loss and 2 runs on 1.0 in game 1, He didn't play in game 2.
Obviously I would rather not hit against Peterson and LaBrie, but my team has experience getting hits off of your best. The bases were loaded on Peterson when the passed ball occurred. I am expecting it to be a close exciting game on Friday, but I am hoping we can put up a bunch of runs and save our pen for Arkansas.

Good question, what does a track meet's attendance and Rusty Eck have to do with the upcoming game? What a hypocritical tool.Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

Jealous of you guys. This is the first regional I can't attend in person since Rice in 2003.
Cheer loud and bring friends!!!
ETA: Wow. So either their online system is FUBAR'd or tickets are all spoken for. My first two searches wouldn't pull up any results (even for single ticket GA seats) and now it's going to a screen saying the event is sold out. Definitely don't rely on this and call the ticket office if you're trying to go, but....damn that was fast if true.Last edited by Guest; May 29, 2013, 10:43 AM.

I'm certain I've missed a couple more, but all of those are non-BCS programs that aren't even worth mentioning in the same breath as K-Suck baseball.
The list of BCS baseball programs that are totally irrelavent encompasses several ENTIRE CONFERENCES. Some of the top college baseball conferences are non-BCS.
Are you a betting man? Put your money on Arkansas in YOUR regional. Seeing Arky in your regional is a near guarantee that you are fooked, but you would already know that if you paid any attention at all to college baseball.

Confirmed through their ticket office: All Session Passes are sold out. Early Friday morning they will have a VERY small number of standing-room-only seats go on sale for individual games.
I really hope all the Shocker fans wanting to go had a quick trigger finger this morning. Also, here's hoping the WSU ticket office wasn't way oversubscribed for the SASO allotment because anyone not on their list who waited for confirmation will be SOL.

Ricky, the only thing wrong with your post is that Long Beach hasn't won in Omaha.
The other four schools from outside "power" conferences have accounted for SEVEN national championships, four by the aptly named (but apparently mid-major) Titans from Fullerton, and one each by the others, including college baseball's biggest Shocker in decades back in 1989.

Can anyone tell me what the price was for all session passes?

Also when I spoke to our ticket office yesterday, they advised me to go through KsU ticket office since I'm ONLY a baseball season ticket holder.I guess my priority points are too low.School got 200 tickets and apx. 120 of then went to coaches and player family members.I do think after Friday tickets may become available from all session buyers like myself that may have a team out or about to be out of the tournament.
