So, their catcher who walks a lot and never sacrifices wasn't asked to bunt and got set up by a wild pitch; WSU's fast leadoff man who knows how to bunt wasn't able to execute but was bailed out by a wild pitch and then picked up by Bayliff. Quite a triumph for small ball and standard strategy this inning, wasn't it?

Let's just hope WSU capitalizes better than the Trees did.

The wild pitch proved that having Dearman bunt was the right strategy. Had the runners remained at 1st and 2nd the middle infielders would have been pinched up the middle at double play depth and Bayliff's single may not have got through. It wasn't the strategy that way bad but the execution.
