To be fair to Casey the first strike called was below his knees and the next was high and tight. At that point he no longer felt confident in his own zone judgment as the ump really opened it up on him.

Probably still not a good idea to swing at something that bounces -- presumably they can still trust the ump not to call a strike in the dirt. The only good thing about this so far is that Lefty Tree is averaging about 20 pitches an inning. He can't do that forever.

Also these guys need to quit worrying about the ump, that blue is living rent free in about 2/3rd of the shockers lineup.

Not sure about that call at second, but the not dirt base path had something to do with the slide.

Hey bud... not much time to make decisions up there and when somebody gets you on edge and you start opening your zone. Casey is the last guy on this team outside of Dearman to complain about swing at bad pitches. Should he have let the ump rattle him? no but it happened.

I agree with the no arm lefties killing WSU but I think this guy has a little bit of stuff. I think the ump having a considerable zone doesn't help either but Gardener is benefitting just the same.
