  • I didn't see it mentioned but at least we are still tied for 1st in the Valley and there still is a good chance we will finish the year above 0.500.

That would be better than most of us expected out of this team. :yahoo:

    • Yet still not anywhere near what it should be.

      Time for krusty to go.

I really like Shane and in limited dealings have always walked away impressed. His job is a tough one....I can't imagine what that is going to be like when he sees Gene and says " What in the **** are you thinking 10? Have you hit your head? Have you fallen down and hit your head on something very hard?"

        • I hope Mike Kennedy asks Gene why he did bunt in the 12th when he does the pregame show for tonight's game.

          • Gene said he just plain blew it and apologized to the team.

Seriously? How do you blow that? I barely know anything about baseball and I was excited about the bunt the instant we got the 2nd runner on base because I knew it was about to happen.

It has to come to an end......NOW, Gene. I'm sorry.

I suppose it's good that Gene shouldered some blame. The problem is this is nowhere close to the 1st time Gene has blown it.

And surely not the last this year.

                  • Okie State went up to Omaha this weekend to play 4 games in a tournament in TD Ameritrade Park. They won all 4 games, beating Rutgers, sweeping 2 games from UNL and beating Cu 6-5 on Sunday. Their rpi has improved to 51.

                    • Answer me this 1989.

Why do we care about Oklahoma State's RPI?

                      ... No really, deuces.

It sounds like this weekend Tyler Baker threw several guys out. I wasn't at the games, to see if they were all pitch outs or if the runners slipped or fell down, but really until this weekend it didn't seem like WSU catchers had thrown anyone out (except in the cases you mentioned).

The really depressing thing is the number of times we have guessed right on the pitch out........and still not thrown the runner out.

That is depressing. It is amazing how many times WSU has guessed right on the pitch out even if they don't always execute and throw the runner out. I am not sure I have ever seen a WSU team guess right so many times on the pitch out.

                            • I don't know what it means if anything, but I find it strange that the extra inning game against Okie St drew a lot of attention on this board, getting 8 pages of comments and thousands of views while the extra inning game against Ku hardly got a whimper on this board.

Does it mean nobody cares about Ku on this board? Maybe it was because the Ku game was on Tv and everyone just watched it on Tv and didn't bother turning on their computers? (I did that, essentially, not looking at the computer until after the game was over).

I don't know what the answer is, but I just thought it was kind of odd.

Or this team is not worth expending anything on. The game was against a team with a winning record therefore it means a high probability WSU would lose. Frankly I was watching the royals, with Kennedy on low in the background. Watching/listening to WSU is like going to the dentist and getting a root canal.

I don't know what the answer is, but I just thought it was kind of odd.
There is a very strong history/rivalry between WSU and OSU that originated between teams when they were both were national powers. That resonates between fans (probably the older fans) - I guess hoping to catch that hope once again. Winner of the mid-week series between these two teams used to determine who was going to be the regional host in the Mid-West (when there was only 8 host). There was also bad blood between OSU and WSU, especially fans [lets face it, OSU fans are not very lovable, nor where there coaches] and sometime WSU fans and OSU coaches. There also has been tremendous drama between the two teams. Used to be when OSU came to town, ECK was standing room only - what an environment. Hopefully this program can move on to a new chapter and recapture that magic.

Meanwhile KU is really a MEH team. Their goal is to be able to compete against WSU in the state, they have no hope of being a power in the B12. KU/WSU games never involve anything more than bragging rights.
