Players really should stay off this site and off drugs as well.

        Basketball who?

So what you're suggesting is that winning the Valley baseball title by a team with an RPI in the 170's will be a better accomplishment and gain more notoriety than the basketball team going to the Final Four?
        Deuces Valley.
        ... No really, deuces.

Might just be taking dofo's place. This poster definitely sounds to be a menber of the team.

Well not that it really matters, but Illinois State has quietly moved to the top of the Valley and looks likely to run away and hide. They beat CU 9-2 last night. They are 10-3 in the Valley and after tomorrow, are done with the heavy lifting in conference. They'll only have series with Southern Illinois and Evansville remaining.

Even if Creighton were to win the last 2 games against ISU, I'd take them considering MSU, WSU and CU still all have to play each other.

ISU has won 11 in a row, and 18 of 20. I bet dozens of Redbird fans will come out to support them at the Valley tournament. Maybe even hundreds.

Bump... Here is to hoping that we get rained out tomorrow and can find a way to sweep cu. Surely ISUr drops a game somewhere.

Would you settle for a sweep instead and some help from CU with ISUr?

                    Wichita State 14-4
                    Illinois State 11-4
                    Missouri State 11-7
                    Creighton 9-6
                    Evansville 9-8
                    Indiana State 7-10
                    Southern Illinois 3-12
                    Bradley 1-14

Unless I'm off base, the worst WSU can finish is 3rd. CU could finish above WSU by sweeping WSU and winning at least 2 of 3 against Missouri State. Or they could 2-1 at WSU and sweep MSU, winning the tie breaker.

Making it simple for now, any combination of 3 WSU wins or CU losses (to either WSU or MSU) guarantees the Shocks at least 2nd.

Sweep the Jays and WSU are the champs. Win 2 and ISU has to run the table to beat WSU. Less than that gets interesting for WSU.

ISUr's magic number is 4. CU's is 9 to pass ISU (which doesn't necessarily give them the title) and to pass ISU and 7 or 8 depending on how many times they might beat WSU.

WSU controls their own destiny. Sweep Cu and they are the Champs!

Sweep the Jays and the Shocks are guaranteed a Co-Championship. If Illinois State sweeps Evansville and SIU they would tie the Shocks at 17-4.

Sweeping the Jays is no sure thing. In fact, the chances of Illinois State sweeping Evansvlle and SIU are probably just as good if not better than the Shocks chances of sweeping Creighton.

For an outright championship the Shocks magic numbers are as follows:
                        Relative to ILS - 4
                        Relative to CU - 2 (A shocker win over CU = 2)
                        Relative to MSU - 1

One win by the Shocks over Creighton assures they will finish ahead of CU and MSU and will clinch 2nd place.

We may or may not know the outcome of the race this weekend or not. We do know we will be rooting for Evansville this weekend.

I believe WSU holds the tie-breaker over both IllSt and MSU due to series wins vs. both.
                          Basketball Season Tix since '77-78 . . . . . . Baseball Season Tix since '88

The tiebreaker has nothing to do with determining the regular season champion. The tiebreaker is used only for determining seeding in the MVC tournament. Since there are no byes, seeding is perhaps of limited value in baseball.

One team will be left out the tournament this year. Most likely SIU or Bradley.

The 1-4-5-8 seeds are in one 4-team bracket and the 2-3-6-7 seeds in another 4-team bracket. The winners of each bracket meet for the Championship.

Last year #8 Creighton won the Valley Tournament over #6 Southern Illinois.

The Shocks, seeded #3, went 0-2.

No team will be left out of the Valley tourney. There are only 8 Valley teams that play baseball. If you leave one out there wouldn't be a #8 seed.

That's right, forgot about UNI dropping the Sport.

Next year Dallas Baptist will replace Creigthon I guess. Loyola does not have baseball.
