  • [Gm 2] WSU vs Dirt Bags

Shox in a spirited battle, trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the 8th with LBS threatening. McGreevy is pitching his heart out to keep WSU in the game.

Bullpen falters for the 2nd day in row. Shox down 3-1 and coming to bat in the 9th to start their comeback to tie the game up or win it.

Coy strikes out looking (2nd K of the day). Can't wait for Coy to see some valley pitching so he can get out of this 0.246 slump.

Harbutz 0 for 16 against LBS, now 0 for 17 as he grounds out with a spirited ground ball.

Mucha swung hard and give it the ole college try but "just missed it" - shocks lose 3-1.

Gardner pitched well against an elite team, but Kemnitz need to give his bullpen a pep talk. Shox are just about to turn the corner.

It is about time he gets put on the bench for a game or two. He has done pretty much nothing this year.

idk, I'm going to listen to the Brent Koolaid and see what he thinks.

Kemnitz - don't let LBS record fool you, LBS = ELITE, just off to a slow start. These losses are preparing WSU for the conference season.

                      Turn the corner where?

Pitching has pitched well enough to give us a chance to win. Our hitting has been atrocious the past 4 years, and pretty much the reason why we have been average at best.

                      Team batting average from 2001 - 2008 was .306
                      Team batting average from 2009 - 2012 was .282

Let's face it, we simply are not getting the skill position recruits we used to and it shows. We've stayed competitive in the pitching department simply because Kemnitz still draws those young high school pitchers who know he is one of the best in the business in college baseball.

Brent pitching tip of the week: Don't give up runs and you will have a chance to win.

                          Perhaps your best work.

Perhaps Brent is even doing a better job than before, as we have no "aces"....nobody that throws all that hard (certainly in comparison to previous years) and essentially no bullpen.

This team is hugely weak. They can't hit their way out of a wet paper bag. They're doing little at the plate but guessing and hoping. We have about 2 guys that can hit the ball out of the infield.

We have no catching. Teams are 18-22 stealing against us....mostly BAD teams.

It's going to hurt, but every day Gene leads this program will just make it that much harder to return to where we are supposed to be.

                          This is unacceptable.

BRENT says YOU CONTROL THE WAY YOU THINK, don't be a negative nancy. Be positive. Otherwise, he won't invite you over to play Apples to Apples.

I didn't editorialize my comment, I simply pointed out the facts. Unfortunately, the facts speak for themselves and the truth hurts. By the way, what exactly has this program done in the past 4 years to be positive about. We've gone from baseball powerhouse to vastly approaching the college baseball outhouse. All the positive thinking in the world isn't going to magically turn this program around overnight. We are on the cusp on being your average everyday mid-major ho-hum program. That is scary.
