  • The Panthers have now won 6 games in a row after sweeping conference foe Cincinati this weekend. They remain in second place in the Big East at 12-3 just 1 game out of first place. They have improved their rpi to 48 and their overall record to 32-10 (including a 3-0 record against the rpi top 50).

While they are not a top 25 team, they are certainly having a very good season and have a legit shot at an at large bid. While WSU still should have done better against them, Pittsburgh is proving to be a pretty good team.

    • The Pittsburgh Panthers swept Georgetown on the road this weekend to move into a first place tie in the Big East. They now stand at 15-3 in the Big East and 36-11 overall. Their rpi has impoved to #43.

Their chances of getting an at large bid are starting to look pretty good. It is too bad that WSU couldn't have gotten a win or two against them. They are turning out to be a pretty good baseball team this year.

        • The Shox were 0-12 against the rpi top 50 after Saturday's loss to Cu. This weekend Pittsburgh sweeps Villanova (rpi 265) to move into first place by themselves in the Big East. But Villanova's rpi is so bad that Pittsburgh's rpi drops from the top 50 to 64. That takes away 3 of the Shox top 50 losses.

Also this weekend Ku gets swept at home by Kstate, so they fall from the top 50 to 58. So the Shox top 50 losses drop to 7. In addition, the Shox beat Cu on Sunday to give them their first top 50 win. So the Shox went from 0-12 against the rpi top 50 on Saturday to 1-7 tonight.

          • So what you're really trying to say is that our SOS is getting much worse and our RPI along with it not that it really makes any difference.

It is more than obvious, and has been for a long while, that the only way we get into the NCAA tournament is to win the Valley Tournament. If we are lucky enough to win the Valley tournament we will be a #4 seed wherever we go.

The questions is what are our chances of winning the Valley Tournament. I suppose as good as most but no better than many as well.

            • Actually I only brought it up because I checked the Shox profile on warren nolan after Saturday's loss and it showed they were 0-12 against the rpi top 50. I checked it again today after they beat Cu and I expected it to say 1-12 (since Cu is in the top 50), instead it said 1-7. I thought it was odd for it to change that much in one day. So I went through the schedule and figured out what happened (Ku and Pittsburgh fell out of the top 50 over night for very different reasons). Both Ku and Pitt still have a chance to finish in the top 50 so WSU will probably be 1-12 against the top 50 at the end of the season (although it could change if WSU plays Cu in the Valley tourney).

              • Why on freaking earth are we talking about WSU and RPI? What the **** gives?

                • The Pittsburgh Panthers moved up to #16 in this week's CBN poll and #23 in the coaches poll. The opening season losses to the Panthers, which looked absolutely terrible at the time, don't look quite so bad now.
