  • In the top of the 8th it is now 11-2 Pitt. Brummett still pitching for the Shox. He has done pretty well until this inning.

      • Hopefully Kris Gardner will be well enough to start on Tuesday. Otherwise WSU may be going 0-4 for the first time ever I believe under Gene S.

We may be on our way to setting a lot of 1st time evers.

          • i notice alot of the negativity from the basketball posters are doing the same on baseball.
okay, 0-3, but still way to early to throw in the towell for the season. the players will
unite despite all of the negativity. its not how you start - its how you finish and that is
a long way off. look for steady improvement, a 13-2 run coming up and a very
competitive team going into league play. coaches are not going to come up with any
magic.......its the players that will figure it out on their own. way too much blame given
to coaches in losses and way to much credit when we win.

Okay I will bite. What on earth did you see this weekend that leads you to believe we will go 13-2 over the next 15 games?

Our starting pitching is bad. Our bullpen is worse. Not sure our catcher can call a game either.

              Our defense was so-so.

Our approach at the plate hasn't changed. We strike out way too much, can't work counts, and routinely make base running errors.Gene continues his same old whining about not being able to relate to players. We have about four guys that are legitimate D-1 hitters.

Help me out here. I will gladly admit I am wrong when the time comes.

happy to. first, give credit to pitt......i thot they were pretty darn good. second, our teams
always go thru some adversity. some adversity can be a good thing and i think getting it
right off the bat can be, as well. wont be any big heads for awile. third, its the PLAYERS
that will unite and overcome the adversity. fourth, i refuse to believe from one series that
our pitching will be that bad down the road. just a rough start. fifth, we have TWO huge
bats in the middle that will come around and have great seasons. sixth, i think there are
going to be 3-4 pleasant surprises offensively to compliment the two big guys. i like
bayliff and kahlie (?) to hit for average. we will get it going and soon. 37-23 reg season.

That will be good enough for 3rd in the MVC (and that might be to kind) and another year without any post-season play. That is not getting it going. It is not like they are playing a quality non-conference schedule.

                  • I don't anticipate many long winning streaks so right now if I had to project, I would say a 5th or 6th place Valley finish and quite possibly a 30-30 record. Could even be a game or two below (or above) .500, if we lose a few to weather.

                    • Guess who has an RPI of 1?

2013 Men's College Baseball Rating Percentage Index (RPI) Live - a ranking of teams based on their win percentage and strength of schedule (their opponents' average win percentage and their opponents' opponents' average win percentage) and sometimes additional or bonus factors such as game location or site updated every five minutes.

                      ... No really, deuces.

                        • i remain positive for now. i am expecting a 5-0 weekend, 4-1 at the worst, or i will be
jumping ship into the negative camp with the majority

                          • The Panthers are having a decent season, not a great one but a decent one. They are now 26-10 with a rpi in the 80s. Their best wins are a 3 game sweep of Notre Dame (rpi #26). Other than that they really don't have any notable wins. They are 6-3 in the Big East, 1 game out of first place.

                            • The Panthers swept Rutgers this weekend to improve their rpi to 58. They have also moved into sole possession of second place in the Big East baseball race with a conference record of 9-3, one game out of first. Their overall record improves to 29-10. As I stated earlier their only notable wins are a 3 game sweep of Notre Dame.

                              • I'm sorry but what is the relevance of this thread now? If we were somehow a bubble team AND we had swept the series from Pittsburgh, or hell, even won A game from them, I could then understand the care for them. But what exactly is the point now of what Pittsburgh does? It absolutely has no bearing on anything at all with Wichita State.
