My strategy would have been to pinch hit for Seth, bunt the runners into scoring position to take the double play off the table and then you have two chances to get those 2 runners home. Hated seeing Cam Johnson stranded in the on-deck circle as the game ended.Last edited by 1972Shocker; March 22, 2024, 09:21 PM.

If Stroh is going to be in the lineup at all you don't take him out in that situation, imo. You just hope for lightning to strike. Preferably by actually swinging the bat.
Didn't end up mattering at all, but I also pinch run for Millan there to give a chance to score from first on a double and reduce the chance of a double play.

Frustrating road game. I thought Caden pitched mostly well but made 2 or 3 0-2 pitches too center cut. And UAB was really lucky at times...3 different hits that were just in the perfect place that we get gloves on but can't squeeze it.
I didn't care for the approach at the plate mostly. BUT, their starter was really, really good. Around the zone constantly. They absolutely didn't beat themselves (something they've done often so far) and got a couple of timely hits.
We were probably one 2 out hit from tying or winning the game, all that considered.
Weird night in the American. Rice had a couple of chances to beat Tulane, then gave up 8 in the top of the 11th and lost 14-7. Charlotte FAU delayed. Memphis scored 8 in the 3rd in route to an easy 16-7 win at USF. And ECU couldn't get a big hit all night and lost at UTSA 4-2.
14 Ks is way too many. We're still trying to pull the ball too much. Again, Berry was really good (and he's been good, hasn't given up more than 3 runs all year, and we got 3 off him, so we weren't incompetent). BUT, close doesn't count, and we have to win the next 2. Pressure's on today to compete and win.
