We have been scoring consistently against good pitching from what my admittedly untrained eyes are seeing.
They seem to be more impatient at the plate. Trying to pull a lot more stuff. Less situational hitting.

Stroh was outstanding against Iowa. Easily player of the game in that one, but he's a bit feast or famine lately.

He needs a black cowboy hat and some Terminator style sunglasses. And a big bushy mustache.

The 8 runs allowed really belies the Shox midweek pitching effort tonight, imo. Should probably be 3-4 runs if they had a lick of defense played behind them. 14 Ks. And I think a few guys at the bottom of the bullpen barrel earned themselves another chance.

Top of the lineup will be up if they can hold it here.
It seems these guys are going left/right whenever and wherever the opportunity presents itself, no matter what, no matter who is hot.

Personally, even though he's been struggling, I was ok with it. He just missed that first pitch.

If the defense played a clean game this would have been an entirely different ball game. I can't fault the pitching even though they were responsible for putting people on base but the defense or lack there of allowed too many un-earned runs. Nice crowd at Eck last night and felt like the kind of atmosphere that has been lacking the last decade. Go Shocks

I hate to say it again, but I don't care how good you are, 6 walks, 1 HBP, 3 errors (10 free passes) and playing a ****ing DH at 2nd and you aren't going to beat a shitty team, much less a good, solid team like Nebraska. And we're not nearly talented enough to overcome that quantity of mistakes.

#3 Wake Forest 9 #16 Coastal Carolina 17 And it shouldn't have been THAT close. Wake walked NINE and hit TEN AND committed 2 error.

Enough times it's just tough to win baseball games against inferior competition, to say nothing of superior competition.

It looked like a very nice crowd and atmosphere. However, putting that product back on the field is a quick way to see that place empty out again. Even against top 3 teams like Nebraska.

Pitching and defense go hand in hand. You're offense better be so good (average double figure runs) that you are playing really good hitters (even though defense is sub-par), or you better excel as a defense, which includes pitching. We aren't consistently (intermittent isn't good enough) good at either one.

Pretty sure Shockers are behind ECU in era and that's with a lot of freshman getting better every outing. Definitely don't agree with changing your middle infield almost every game. Need to settle on a starting SS and 2B and go with it for awhile. Errors lead to a lot more pitches and we needed to get 6 outs in that 4th inning.

So middle defense is more important than pitching? Our pitching and middle defense both was deficient last night imo, and our hitting wasn’t good enough to overcome those deficiencies.

Both are important but no pitching is going to overcome having to get 6 outs in an inning. An error knocks Hamilton out, and if Geraghty gets a K and a double play then this conversation is about a great comeback win.
