Not everyone can be a guru. Many more of us qualify as goobers than gurus.

    • If you only have one pitch you will eventually get your tits lit no matter what it is.

Hitting is timing, pitching is disrupting timing.

        • Didn’t Kenny Steenstra go 17-1 with almost no fastball?

          • The successful pitchers I have seen develop are focused on hitting spots. They don’t start throwing other pitches til they can hit the spots consistently.

Back in the glory days in the MVC, it seems that other Valley schools were almost exclusively recruiting pitchers referred to as junkballers. They could only throw in the 80's, but they could hit spots, and they had nasty breaking pitches. They could hit spots with the breaking pitches too.

Those pitchers were a problem for a lot of WSU's power hitters, and those pitchers were probably recruited specifically to slow down WSU's offense. One theory held that WSU's batters struggled against that type of pitcher because in practice they only had flamethrowers to bat against.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

                              • If this is, in fact, the guy looks like he could step right into the slot vacated by Garrett Pennington. GP was 6-0, 205 lb bruiser who didn't get cheated on his swings. Williams looks to be pretty much a carbon copy at 6-0, 215 lbs. Williams did strike out about 1 in every 4 at bats this past season vs 1 in every 5.75 at bats for Garrett. And presumably Garrett was generally facing better pitcher.
