Also I have a quick update on Johnny Coy. I was talking to some shocker players after a summer game and they said he's frustrated about not being drafted and thinking about dropping baseball completely andreturning to the basketball team. He's been talking to Marshall about it a lot. They even said he came back this week and lifted with the basketball team. We will see this would be a huge blow to the lineup for next year.

I did notice via twitter Johnny has been working with Kerry on weights and he warns some of his teammates that they don't know whats coming when they get back. Add in that Gene mentioned they are going to go about lifting differently in one of his interviews there at the end of the year and seems to me he is still playing baseball. Maybe he just wants a break from summer ball and wants to focus on beefing up. Maybe he was bummed about not being drafted and just wanted a break this summer who knows. I do know Paul said the coaches expected him back and this was before the draft. Now either they knew he wouldn't be drafted, drafted late or Johnny indicated to them that he planned on returning.
I watch Johnnys basketball highlights and wonder what he could have done on the court but at the same time I believe he made right choice as baseball was and is his future. Or at least the two of the sports he will go furthest in.
I hope he has a huge senior season. He seems like a good kid and good teammate and wish him nothing but the best.

No I said coy was working at catcher during the winter because of the uncertainty of the position coming out of fall ball and actually looked fairly decent. The coaches wanted to see if it was a legit option for the spring but they didn't feel Comfortable with him there. Nice try Internet tough guy!

The Alaskan League must start later. They are showing that the Mat-su Miners have only played 2 games. At any rate after 2 games, Eric Harburz is batting .286 with a rbi.
They are also showing that the Anchorage Gold panners have played 5 games. Micah Green is batting .250 so far (the team batting average is .185)

Checking out the Wilson Tobs (NC) website, it appears that Aaron Rea has played in all 13 games so far, starting 12 of them. He has a .250 batting average with 10 walks and 44 official ABs. (4th best batting average on the team- team average is .228, opponents are averaging .212).
Aaron LaBrie has appeared in 5 of their 13 games, has pitched 12 1/3 innings and has a era of 1.46.Last edited by shox1989; June 17, 2012, 03:01 AM.

Adding to the Jayhawk League stuff: Former Shocker Donnie Lambert has hooked on with the Derby Twins and is leading the club in hitting at .364 and is second in rbi (5) in only 22 ABs. Surely somebody will take a chance on the guy when the dust settles.“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying.
