Woohoo we got Bob Arens! Levi has the ability to change the way a game is played defensively, and it appears he can swing it a little bit too. I have spoken to pitchers who have thrown to him that swear he can help them expand the strike zone several ball widths either way because of his framing/receiving ability.
Good kid, good family, I wish him the very best and congratulate him on realizing a juco championship.

Other than run a baseball academy for 15 years +/- and develop young talent. Oh and by the way, he took over a poor Tabor (NAIA) program and has made it a nationally ranked and respected power at that level. His players from Tabor perform favorably when matched up with the D1 kids during the summer leagues. See this years El Dorado Broncos along with VC Diamond Dawgs. Mark has worked to develop his ability to recruit at/to Tabor through his contacts from his academy, and he has learned to fund raise. Did I mention the fact that he is a Shocker through and through, and by all accounts is a man of honor and integrity? He has a pretty salty pitching coach at Tabor (Pat Hon) who would also be great at WSU. He has also worked with Steve Lienhardt who would also be a great college pitching coach. Throw in Billy Hall, choose your pitching coach from 1 of the 2 mentioned and you would have yourself one hungry, hard working staff that would work at recruiting, teaching/coaching, player development like the young hungry coaches of 30 years ago.

I don't think your arrogant or ignorant for wanting him. Why am I when I don't want him. We all have an opinion. I just think with what we pay there are numerous people out there to warrant this job. If you are going with an ex shocker Kevin Hooper fits the bill more than Mark, however, I still think we can do better than either one of them.

What kind of pay package a coach can demand is not always the best harbinger of how successful he will be. In fact, there are many, many examples in college sports where that has not been the case.
There is something to be said for a young, energetic, ambitious and motivated staff especially if their contracts are propertly structured with incentives that reward them nicely based on real success and not just for showing up at the office.
One thing we do not need is an entitlement mentality that takes things for granted or that has resulted in a lack of zeal and motivation.

You ask in a very smug manner you get a smug response. One that tells me you already have your mind made up. Like I said if you don't deem him worthy thats fine, but I'm not going to sit here and try to convince you.
Now if you just asked, "what is Marks background?" or "why do you think he would be a good coach?" or "I don't think his background qualifies him" thats different.

Previous 5 years RPI: 2011- Sun #6, MVC #7; 2010- Sun #7, MVC #15; 2009- Sun #7, MVC #17; 2008- Sun#11, MVC #12; 2007- Sun #6, MVC #7.

My point was that he apparently only had one division 1 offer and it wasn't exactly from a powerhouse.
He may be a good player, but none of the other division 1 schools in this area (or the whole country other than FAU) thought he was worth offering a scholarship.

Hey johnnieballgame can you give us an update on your son dillon kerans because you said we would see him in a shocker uniform again. I saw he's with valley center again. And what's the need to call out bob Arens on here meater. I like Meyer as a catcher as well and you should have good insight on him since you watched him play a lot in high school since dillon played on the same high school summer team as him. Go Shox!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
