McGreevey has pitched 1 inning and Minnis 2 innings for the Santa Barbera Foresters.

    Here are the Foresters stats.

Small sample sizie but not a great start to their summers.

Aaron LaBrie and Aaron Rea are listed on the Wilson Tobs (NC) roster. http://www.wilsontobs.com/roster/

Rea is 5-19 plus 4 walks in 6 appearnces.

LaBrie has ptiched in 2 games giving up 7 hits and 5 walks in 4.1 innings of work, although he has only allowe 3 runs (2 earned) but I wonder how many inherited runners he has allowed to score. Another Shocker pitcher with an unimpressive start to his summer.

Here are the stats for the Tobs.

I see Sam Hall was given 9 at bats and hasn't played in roughly a week. Why would you send a player who desperately needs at bats this summer to a team that isn't going to play him? I don't hope he is injured but he better be injured. Otherwise forget the cavemen.

I agree. If Sam is not injured they may as well try to place him somewhere else where he can get some at bats or just let him work out on his own.

Anyone think poor placement of players has any correlation with a staff not quite as interested in putting in the time and effort to make sure the kids are in good spots?

Maybe. But may just boil down to the fact that we don't have the talent to offer teams that we used to and perhaps Gene and Brent's influence with and respect from these teams has fallen as much as it has with the Shocker fan base.

Very possible @1972Shocker:. I know some teams are just starting, but has any Shocker got off to a good summer?

Since this is the active thread, I'll post the following here: http://www.kansas.com/2012/06/11/237...o-florida.html

Was Meyer ever recruited by the Shocks or was there no interest on his part? Seems like he could have helped.

With the lack-luster performance so far by our pitchers, is anyone concerned or surprised that we signed only 1 freshman pitcher for next year?

An outstanding point I failed to make.

The performance of our pitchers is a little bit of a concern at this point but it is a relatively small sample size so we will have to see how it goes.

We did sign a Juco transfer out of Eastern Oklahoma but he was drafted and will not ever wear a Shocker uni and that may prove to be more painful than a lot of fans realize.

Painful is the last 3 years, and any upcoming seasons where 10 is still running the program. This isn't one of those puzzles that you have to unstare at to get into focus.

This program no longer recruits the talent, improves the talent, has the drive, possess the focus or puts in the time to compete at the level it should, and used to. You can spin all you want, but we aren't going to be better next year. This year's team was lucky to win so many times in their last at bat. Those numbers will even out and there is very little room, that I see, for marked improvement and even if there is room, the coaching isn't there. We may win more games, because the Valley is likely to be atrocious next year will all the seniors gone, but I promise you, we will not be a better team, and I sincerely doubt we schedule as hard as this year. Our RPI will be worse, and the program will continue to slide.

Regarding the "only one freshman pitcher", I was thinking more along the lines of years beyond next.

I've already posted in the Draft thread of my concern for next year with the loss of Blake Logan. I don't know where in the recruiting time table we got Logan's committment, however, as fast as he notified WSU he was signing, I think our staff had their fingers crossed he'd get overlooked in the draft and that he was a "hole filler" for a recruiting class small on pitchers.

I think you are probably right and how big that hole will be remains to be seen.

Levi Meyer was interested. He was not recruited by WSU, in spite of Mark Standiford telling the staff he was the best catcher in the area. Woohoo we got Bob Arens! Levi has the ability to change the way a game is played defensively, and it appears he can swing it a little bit too. I have spoken to pitchers who have thrown to him that swear he can help them expand the strike zone several ball widths either way because of his framing/receiving ability.

Good kid, good family, I wish him the very best and congratulate him on realizing a juco championship.

This article sickens me. There is no way this kid shouldn't be wearing black and gold.
