I will be interested in seeing how Sam Hall does for the Cavemen. Hopefully he plays more 3b than 1b and hopefully he gets plenty of AB this summer.

Hannibal won its opener on Tuesday at Quincy 6-0. Sam DH'ed and went 1-4 with with 2 of the Cavemen's 5 strikeouts. Need to cut down on those stirkeouts. Gene commented on that on his Sports Daily appearance this week. Kris did not pitch.

Hannibal lost game 2 of the series losing on Wednesday to Quincy 10-11. Sam pinch hit and was 0-1. Again Kris did not pitch.

Hanniball lost to Dubois County 2-5 yesterday. Sam went 0-4 with 1K and 1 RBI. Kris again did not pitch. Kris may take a little time off before he throws. Sam is no doubt rusty and he is off to a slow start going 1-9 (0.111) so far.

Ta Town, can't argue with that statement at all. I won't name names, but there are certain people that are doing their best to make it a thing of the past. I feel if the NBC WS can somehow (and this is a huge task) get the Cape Cod and Northwoods leagues to combine and have a huge tournament, I think that would help. It'll never happen though, those teams won't come here. As it stands, watered down or not, you can still find me at just about every game of the NBC WS with a group of buddies that apparently loves amateur baseball as much as I do.. fighting through the good and bad. lol

While it would be nice to see the guys paly during the summer I think it is more important that they have opportunities to play where the best competition is. Also I imagine that to at least some degree where you are able to place your players in the summer has some recruiting benefits. Being able to send guys ot the Cape Cod League, the Northwoods Leaguey, Alaska and Santa Barbara are nice experiences for these players and just another quiver in the recruiting tool box.

Thanks for the heads up, Sam hasn't hit game pitching in a long time. Just as long as he is getting AB's, thats what is important. I think he may be one of the potential guys at 3B next season.

BTW, Hannibal made 5 errors in this game. 3 by the SS and 2 by Sam at 2B.

Hopefully, Sam will knock the rust off fairly quickly. Good be pressing a little bit too since he hasn't played for some time. Probably just needs to relax a little.

Johnny Coy is playing for the Rochester (Minn) Honkers and Casey Gillaspie and A.J. Ladwig are playing for the Eau Claire (Wis) Express.

Rochester lost its 1st two games and Johnny was not in the lineup so he is probably not there yet.

Eau Claire split its 1st two games losing 4-6 and winning 5-4 to the Wisconsin Woodchucks. Neither Casey or A.J. played. Eau Claire plays the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (doesn't exactly roll of the tongue) tonight but it does not look like Casey or A.J. are in the lineup tonight either so they may not be there yet either.

The goShockers.com list reported that Aaron LaBrie and Aaron Rea would be heading to the Wilson (NC) Tops. Not finding a Wilson Tops but there is a college team named the Wilson Tobs (apparently Tobs is short for Tobacconists which is what they were called from 1908-1910. Renamed the Bugs for a while. Shut down during he Great Depression. Reincarnated in 1939 as the Tobs.).

Sam not in the starting lineup tonight for Hannibal.

Nor is Johnny in the Rochester lineup nor is Casey or A.J. in the lineup for Eau Clair tonight.

Josh Halbert in the lineup for the Kansas Canons tonight against Liberal. The Canons scored 1 in the 2nd but Josh hit into an inning-ending double play.

Tyler Baker is playing 3rd for the BeeJays. Unfortunatley, he struck out in his first AB in the 2nd. He's not alone though. The Canons pitcher, Derek Martinez out of Menlo College (CA), has struck out the 1st six batters he has faced.

goShockers.com listed Dayne Parker as going to Liberal but he is not currenlty on the BeeJays roster.

Update: Tyler Baker went 2-4 with a triple and an RBI single during Liberal's 2-run 7th and 8th innings as the Beejays rallied late for a 5-2 win over the Andover Kansas Canons. http://beejays.net/?p=418

Not totally sure how Josh Halbert did for the Canons as the Kansas Caonon stats are a premium service. I don't think we have anyone with any of the MINK teams at this point. But yes we might see some Shocks back at the NBC Tournament.
