  • Shox vs. Jays, Game 2

Shox are in a must win situation. The Shox still have an opportunity to finish as high as second in the #6 ranked Valley. The Shox still have a chance to keep their rpi in the top 45 (warren nolan is still predicting the Shox will finish at #44), but they must win today and win tomorrow. Kris Gardner to pitch for the Shox.

It's another free ticket day at the park in Omaha. This game is also on TV: COX Kansas 22.:poster_wu:

Boyds World's rpi needs assessment as of 8:30am this morning shows the Shox need to go 2-0 to finish in the top 45. Boyd also shows the Shox rpi at 45 (Warren Nolan has the Shox rpi @ #44).

0-0 but shox waste an opportunity and cannot execute in the 3rd

Dayne took a great pitch to hit for a strike and then chased a ball of out of the zone and popped up. Dayne has been very effective with 2-outs this year but he is struggling lately. He has played a lot of innings this year. May be getting a little tired. Seems to be having trouble getting the head of the bat out and has been popping a lot of balls up.

Of course, this whole team seems to have made an art of taking good pitches and swinging at not so good pitches.

Shox with another lack of execution strand a runner at second with back to back strikeouts in the top of 4

This "team" has been doing this for years. Granted, sometimes hitters are going to chase pitches and sometimes pitchers can actually make good pitches (although no one ever seems to think that about the opposition). My point is that maybe we need an actual hitting coach. I'm not sure what JT's official title is, but the shockers certainly have a poor approach at the plate and you can't blame that all on the "young and stupid" players.

Strikeouts galore with a runner at second and less than two outs. No need to make the opponent execute, just don't execute yourself.

Umpire likes that high curve ball. That pitch is NOT a strike when it crosses the plate.

We apparently prefer corn. I knew Creighton's pitching staff was pretty solid but I didn't realize they were all All-Americans. At least we are making them look that way.
