2nd and 3rd, nobody out in the 7th:

Shallow pop up, strike out, and the Vornado strike out to end it. Didn’t even look like he tried.

Do these guys always swing on the first two pitches of counts? My God, horrible.

    ... No really, deuces.

Brutal failure to compete at the plate after 2nd and 3rd no outs. I don’t know if Loren is the right person to light the fires.

Was it a base running mistake? He was running/stealing 3rd base on first movement. Obviously, it didn’t work out, so it was a mistake from that POV. However, it was a runner’s count, so if he would have made it, we’d have said, Great job. Again, if 2nd guessing, Bad play, and should have played it safe.

WSU is not even good a stealing bases. So sure it base running mistake. You are not trying to steal third in that situation, only thing you are trying to do is have a good jump to stay out DP. But you have to make sure that ball goes to the plate.

Shane Dennis even said it was a mistake.

Actually it really wasn't. 0-1, 0-2, 1-2 is a runner count because a pitcher is more likely to throw something off speed. With a 3-2 count, it likely going to be fast ball which is harder to steal on.

Like I said, looking back it was a mistake, so Shane wasn’t wrong. But my question was a good one to Shane or anyone else. Tolle stole a base earlier so it was possible. 3-2 with one out is a great running count, if you want to stay away from a double play. The pitcher has to throw a strike, or the batter walks, and the batter just needs to put the ball in play. 2-1, 3-1, and 3-2 are the best counts to steal on. The pitcher is most likely to have to throw a strike, and the hitter can look for a fast ball. The hitter knows what pitch to look for.

I don't understand why when a pitcher has a killer inning, you only let him pitch one inning. He's warmed up and confident. So lets throw a new kid in there that's neither warmed up or settled in. This feels like a dumb baseball idea, similar to stutter step penalty kicking in soccer.

Yeah, this is a dumb trend in baseball. There's no way perfect pitchers only got one inning in the past?

pinstripers back in your day would a pitcher that just threw a perfect inning get yanked after that one inning?

Lets just play this one out to 18, and cancel tomorrow's game. Winner gets 2xWs and loser gets 2xLs.
