Sounded like a nice crowd. Thought I heard ole KungWu and Onegreatracer screaming in the background when Brock Rodden sent one to the river.

Brock has one good looking, short, lighting quick stroke, especially from the left side of the plate and he really generates some power for a relatively small guy. BTW, Brock new the second he made contact that he got that one.

Might be my imagination but almost immediately after contact I think I heard someone exclaim quite excitedly: OH SH!T!!!!!!

Was that our fearless leader Kung Wu?

Mulhollon threw 2 SOs on 3 BFs!

                  Both got one inning.

Okay, I apologize to Mr. Pelfrey. I am no longer calling b.s. Wilkinson walked out on the tarmac with very little confidence and threw like it too, while Bye was NAILS as a closer.

I think that, other than Brock Rodden's dramatic 8th inning performance, the biggest take away from this game was Cam Bye striking out the side in the 9th to earn his first career save.

The guestiion is can Cam wash, rinse and repeat. If so this would be a nice boost to the arrows available in Pelf's quiver.

BTW Kung Wu did you notice who the winning pitcher in this game was?

Yep, Matt Wilkinson who is now 1-0 on the season.

Seems strange that is the case, but he was the pitcher of record when the Shocks took the lead in the 8th. Technically he was not taken out of the game until the top of the 9th.

That was not a well played game by either team, but it was an entertaining game.

And it was the type of game this team/program has lost 9 out of 10 times for the last decade, so it was good to find a way against a quality opponent. We beat them when they were hot and now when they were cold.

I do think we've found our everyday lineup for the most part. Kyte McDonald playing well (in center and flying around the basepaths however he can get on base) is paramount to the long term success of this team.

I agree with KW's take on Wilky, I expected him to be our closer in the fall and I've been surprised he hasn't seen more work. I get that he doesn't have the best arm on the team. Conor Holden didn't last season but he could close.

I'm also with '72 about Cam. We need him to get out of whatever funk he's in and hopefully last night is that first step, finally. He looked REALLY good out there. Also, that last pitch wasn't a strike, sorry not sorry OU.

Last night was just going to be another step back after a small step forward and instead the good guys found a way. Now conference play starts. And at a place and against a team that has slapped us around since we joined the AAC for reasons that are inexplicable. I hope we've learned something and didn't just get lucky last night. 2-1 and it will feel like we're making progress, 3-0 and we'll know it.
