Somebody on the staff should know by now if Vornado has multiple whiffs he is done for the game and should always be pinch hit for in late innings. He does not make adjustments. He is either seeing the ball or he is not.

Still can't believe what Jace did in the 9th. Threw the ball into the dugout without being granted time (ostensibly to get a different ball than the one he just air mailed Pennington at 1st in a failed pickoff attempt). ORU guy just danced home giddy like a little girl while we watched, literally dumbfounded.

It's like we made no plays. Couldn't make a play at short. Or at 3rd. (admittedly tough plays but doable). Or the double play. Or a hit with runners in position. Or field a bunt. Or not get caught in a rundown. Or make a guy struggling to throw strikes, throw strikes. Or make a double play (like they did). Or not hang a curve that got hit 400 feet. Or hit the 1B on a pickoff attempt. Or not throw a live ball out of play costing the team a run. Or get the ball into play and a runner home from 3rd with less than 2 out and down a run. Or get one big hit with the game on the line.

I've said more than once, these guys need to learn how to win. They haven't yet. And for the 2nd time, this one hurts bad. Should be 8-3 with 3 solid wins and 2 shitty losses. Instead we're 6-5 with 1 solid win, 2 bonehead losses and 2 shitty losses.

        Again, today was unacceptable.

Payton Tolle took quite a bit of the shine of his huge day against Oakland with his peformance against ORU to day. 0-5 with 2 strikeouts and both stirkeouts (in the 7th and 9th) were at absolutely critical juncture in the game. Not only did he wear a collar today but it was a horse collar. But it does make one wonder of the huge game against Oakland had as much to do with Oakland as it did with Payton. But it is baseball and those things will happen on occasion but his performance at the plate today was not what we need from the big guy.

Payton had a tough day, no doubt, but he's done the job most of the season. Taking what they gave him, going the other way, moving guys over, adjusting. He's the last guy I'm blaming for today (and I am sure he would agree, can't go 0-5 and leave a small village out on the basepaths).

Tomorrow will be interesting. So far, for the most part, we've backed up a loss with a good performance. Need to continue that tomorrow or this could unravel quickly.

Instead of starting a new thread, I updated the first post with links to the game tomorrow.

              No ESPN+ for this one?

It's time we get a little payback.

Home Plate ump must be a big Paul Mills guy because he’s getting his money’s worth tonight.

Bases loaded, one out. Got nothing.

Perhaps we can land ORU’s baseball coach too.

Yeah...swept in baseball and poaching their coach. Guess ORU has jumped ahead of us.

Gave up 3 unearned runs and lost by 3?

                            Sounds about right.

Also offense gets buried again by a midweek Cy Young.

Hopefully Saal is ready to pull the trigger soon in baseball too because the last decade of mediocrity sure is old.

                                Grant Adler gets the start.
