Can’t find a probable starter for WSU anywhere yet.

ORU game notes say they’ll start 6’7 righty Joshua Carvalho.

Need to start listening to Scooter's show on Monday. Mike asked about his thoughts on midweek pitching. Scooter basically said since we play ORU 3, OSU 3, OU 3, Ku and KState 2 one of his big things is to not let them see the same guy twice. So I am expecting more of a Johnny Wholestaff approach more often than not. He hinted that Favors would get the ball tomorrow to start but definitely on a pitch count so when he hits that, he's coming out so don't gripe about it lol.

Maybe Cam at Ku but if we need him tomorrow then if it's right they'll use Cam tomorrow. That's from the show. They want to get guys reps and build up pitch counts, but they want to win games first and foremost.

      ORU

      Record 8-4

      RPI #112
      Boyd ISR #85
      Warren Nolan ELO #90

      WSU

      Record 6-4

      RPI #157
      ISR #78
      ELO #130

Carvalho is a sophomore transfer (Chabot in California) with 2 starts this season. Missouri State roughed him up pretty good (3 HR 3 2B) but he was stellar vs Tarleton State giving up 1 hit in 5.2 innings. Doesn't appear to be overpowering but has a nice delivery and gets on you fast with that big frame. Better lay off the high ones unless you are an elite high ball hitter.

Favors is on a pitch count because he played two days ago?

Damnit, I'm getting tired of seeing our guys get ahead 0-2, 1-2 etc and then leave the ball out over the plate.

With 1 out Caden gets their best batter 0-2 then leaves one up right over the plate and Cox hits it off Herring's glove for a single.

Cox steals 2nd on a pick play. Goes to third on a line out to right that almost got over Stroh who made a nifty play on it.

Favors gets the dangerous Hogan to groundout to end the threat. No score Shockers coming to bat.

Rodden drives one into the left field corner but the ORU guy reaches up and makes a nice stab to prevent extra bases.

Thornhill flies out to right near the warning track.

Pennington almost kills somebody on a foul ball (yes he hits it hard) and ends inducing a 2 out walk.

Tolle strides to the plate. Grounds out on 3-1 count. Not a great at bat. They did make Caravahlo throw 21 pitches. No score top 2.

Yes and he's a "short" guy anyway. I'm guessing 50-55ish but lots of variables there. I don't think he'll see 60 pitches. We also want him for the weekend, especially Friday.

Favors gets a groundout to start the inning after a couple of balls. Caden doing a mostly good job at keeping the ball down. Breeze strikes out. Baumgartner Ks as well. Bottom 2 no score.

Mo starts the 3rd with a seeing eye single to left on a 3-1 count.

For a guy that's only walked 1 so far, Caravalho is having a little trouble throwing strikes.

Stroh is hitting .280 and that's ok for his power but still could be better. Strikes out on a change at the VERY top of the zone

Chuck Ingram. Chuck needs to do something here. .226 isn't good enough. Nope GDP and the inning is over.

                  No score top 3.

Favors got the 1st two batters quickly but then a 5 pitch walk and ORU has a runner on 1st with 2 outs. An easy groundout gets him off the hook.

Bottom 3 still no score. Caden at 38 pitches so he'll be out for the 4th. I can't see who is getting loose in our bullpen.

Herring Ks....Rogers Ks on a ball in the dirt (thrown out at 1st) & Rodden gets hit on a 1-2 count.

There is a big zone today (probably necessary due to conditions) but especially down and in. Lots of room down.

Thornhill grounds out and we're through 3 no score.

                      Caravalho is at 52 pitches.

With 1 out ORU gets a slow rolling infield single. Then a ground ball to left side is stopped beautifully by Thornhill but he's unable to get up and a throw off. 2 infield singles and Caden has a probem.

He induces a ground to 3rd, Thornhill steps on 3rd to get the lead runner and fires to 1st for the double play but it's low and Pennington can't dig it out. Runners stay put.

1st and 2nd now 2 out. Favors goes 2-0 then is punished with a single up the middle and it's 1-0. Ingram can't get the runner at 3rd (my drop in...the wrong guy is playing center imho).

A foul ball falls out of the reach of 3 Shockers and the batter stays alive.

Caden is struggling now. He needs to get this guy and get into the dugout or he needs to be pulled.

He can't get Godman out. He keeps fouling away balls he can't get to, it's just a matter of time until he puts one in play.

Caden does in fact get him on a good slider down and in. But the damage is done. 1-0 ORU bottom 4. I hope at 56 pitches Caden is through for the day.

Pennington hits a laser to short that is scored an error and the Shocks have their leadoff guy on.

Tolle gets to 3-0 but after getting worked back to full grounds out to 2nd. Pennington advances (as he was in motion) to 2nd.

Mo needs to drive Pennington in here. On a 1-1 count Mo grounds one to left side. Pennington made a bad read and is a dead duck. Running at 1st and 2 outs now. Big mistake by Garrett there.

Wake me if you've heard that before the last few years.

Stroh Ks and we're through 4 trailing 1-0. Caravalho is at 68 pitches.

                            Well I'm wrong again.

Caden is out for the 5th. Ground to short and Herring can't find the handle.

It's not like we're kicking the ball everywhere, but Caden is getting NO help from the defense. He should be 0-0 with one out right now and saved about 10 pitches.

Probably can't give up more than 1 more with how this is going, at least here in this inning. Going to struggle keeping this guy at first anyway.

ORU can't get the bunt down. Great pitch from Caden there. 0-2 groundout to 3rd and it moves the runner over with 1 out.

Caden is doing a nice job of keeping the runners close. Needs to get this guy here.

Great bunt for a single and a sac fly and it's 2-0 ORU. Mike said it, death by paper cut. Shocks not helping themselves either.

Another single off the pitcher's glove. Sheesh. FYI Caden stayed in too long.

1st and 2nd (not bases loaded) and it's about to be a mess.

                            Cranz coming on.
