Petree may be joining the others on the shelf soon. He not only threw 119 pitches tonight but he has pitched a lot and thrown over 100 pitches several times. SWOMO appears to have a good chance of getting an at large bid (they are almost a lock) but they may not have any pitchers left by the time the post season comes.

So am I. So am I.

WSU knew they really had little chance against SWMO ace so they just sandbagged them. SWOMO will be in for a surprise today and tomorrow when he releases the shocker thunder sticks.

Gene is master at strategery. Here WSU is 5-5, tied for 5th in the MVC. He lulled everybody asleep except for the few diehards who have already seen through his skullduggery and will probably be unleashing the full force of WSU juggernaut.

Remember the days when WSU would roll out the Friday starter against every Valley team and our opponents would say "Yeah, *fill in Friday starter* was tough but now we just have to compete against the rest of the starters and find a way to get a split."?

We don't compete like we used to, we don't play like we used to, we don't care like we used to and now teams like flipping Missouri State and Creighton and Indiana State have better material than we do.

Last night was so painful. To allow ANYONE, much less a shithole of a program like Missouri f****** State to just march into our place and suck the life out of us from pitch 1 is UNACCEPTABLE. I used to never leave early....now it's painful just to get to the yard much less stay and watch us strikeout like 40 times and get shutout. 10 years ago I thought it was against the rules for WSU to be shutout. Now it's borderline commonplace.

Missouri State has better talent than Wichita State, and they do A LOT MORE WITH THAT TALENT.

For the love of God, Gene, please leave with some dignity.

I don't think that the Shockers have a player that could start for SWOMO, hell they might not have anyone that could even make their squad.

I hope I am proved wrong today and tomorrow.

The slide into the abyss continues.

didn't he leave last night with dignity when he was ejected? Or are you talking about something else?

Missouri State has four times the number of pitchers currently in the majors than we do.

              Now that is sad.

Josh Smith is a decent starter but on past teams he is our number four or five guy.

Knowing Paul Evans, both guys will probably pitch again tomorrow.
You say that but top level pitchers continue to go there. They have four or five in the show right now.

If I'm recruiting a kid and I can show them that many pitchers from my program in the big leagues, he has to listen.

Besides, I think (as is the case with several schools) they divvy up scholarships differently than us.

Not sure he left with dignity considering the pitch he was arguing wasn't even close to being a strike. I think he knew the game was over and he just wanted to go take a nap. I can emphasize with that. Yawn! Or maybe he just prefers watching the game on Kansas 22 so he can take notes from Shane Dennis.

There was a time in the not all that distant past when these words would never have been spoken by a Shox fan, coach, or player. Now it is commonplace.

To be any sort of "optimistic" at this point is delusional. The Shox aren't going to immediately do a 180 and become some great team. The material just isn't there.

And don't forget, Saturday and Sunday begins the stage in the season when TWO of the weekend starters are being replaced in the rotation by young, promising pitchers. These guys have looked good in recent outings, but Gardner and Mateychick will face pressure they haven't seen before. I hope they're lights out, but ...

I'm thinking going 1-2 against this team is going to be a challenge. A sweep is more likely going to happen.

Won't Gene have to sit out today's game too since it was a conference game? Doesn't the Valley have some kind of rule like that, if you get thrown out of one game you have to miss the next game too?
