  • Shox vs. da Bears

Shox have a big 3 game series at home this weekend against the MoST Bears. The Bears are the preseason pick to win the Valley and currently lead the Shox by 1 1/2 games in the conference standings.

If the Shox can go 2-1 this weekend they are right back in the thick of the Valley race. If the Shox can go 3-0 they will move ahead of the Bears by a 1 1/2 games. Anything worse than 2-1 and the Shox fall way behind.

When the shockers sweep then they will only need to finish 10-6 to have a rpi 45

I'd guess gushing is a better word.

Even if the Shox go 2-1 this weekend they would need to finish 11-5 to have rpi of 45 or better (according to the latest rpi needs assessment report on Boyds World). While both of these tasks are very tough, they are also doable. The Shox are 9-4 in their last 13 games (7-3 in their last 10 games), so 11-5 or 10-6 is not that different from their most recent winning pace. Beating MoST twice this weekend (or even 3 times) would get us off to a great start.

          GO SHOX!

MoST comes into this weekend with a rpi of 35 and they are ranked #29 this week in the Collegiate Baseball top 30 poll. This is a chance for the Shox to get some top 50 wins and to beat a ranked team.

ALL of the remaining games are important. But we need to take them one game at a time.

This is a chance to not only stay close to SWOMO or even pass them up in the Valley race but to pick up some more top 50 RPI wins. We should have at least 3 more chances for RPI top 50 wins after this weekend (Dallas Baptist, RPI of 36) and maybe 6 more (Indy State currently has a RPI of 53).

For those of you outside of Wichita (but in the state of KS) or if you can't make the game, I just found out tonight's game is on COX 22. Game time is 6:30 pm.

Apparently Saturday and Sunday's games are NOT on TV.

Nice job by Smith to wiggle out of a 2nd and 3rd, 1 out jam in the first.

                  0-0 top 2.

Smith works around a leadoff single and keeps the Hefty Gays off the board.

0-0 to the bottom of the 2nd.

                          Getting mauled.

4-0 MSU, still bases loaded, 1 out.
