You know I like you KC, but that was a major league FAIL.

At least wait until ONE damn game is over before bringing out the "swept" garb.

What the heck are you talking about? They lost according d1baseball.com, did I look at the score above/below the Shox then? I guess I need to check for crossed eyes. Oh well, shame on me. There's nothing I can say. I'll take my medicine as I deserve it.

Per goshockers.com, the Shox rallied with six runs in the ninth to win 8-7.

WICHITA, Kan. ? Dayne Parker's walk-off single scored Tyler Coughenour to complete a six-run bottom of the ninth inning for Wichita State Friday and seal an 8-7 win against Long Beach State at Eck Stadium.

I don't get to a lot of baseball games but I'm glad I went tonight. Wasn't really expecting a big ninth inning comeback but it certainly was a lot of fun.

A comeback for the ages... That I missed because I had to leave early to go pack bags my wife forgot to pack.

Thanks dear. I didn't think it would be a big deal since the dirtbags scored two just in the time it took me to walk to the car.

I follow d1baseball.com too. In fact, that's how I checked on the score an hour ago because I wasn't listening it or even following it. It was 7-5 Long Beach, but it was still the bottom of the 9th. It never showed it went final until just recently, when it had the correct score.

Apologies if your comment was an innocent mistake then. I was shocked to see the 6-run 9th inning by WSU, aided by a couple of errors. I'll take it though.

Yes, and Dewey beat Truman, KC. Oh, well -- a sweep is still possible, just not the one you anticipated. Pump that gloom!

...and winning the 1st game of a 3-game series doesn't mean a sweep is in order (for either team)...especially in baseball. Too many variables.

Wow what a game! In my 30 or so years of watching baseball I don't think I have ever seen a team score 6 runs in the bottom of the ninth to win by one run. I like the fight in our team. I like how they didn't give up.

I didn't have enough juice in my phone or I would have posted game updates. I am glad SB did.

I would be very happy if we could get 2 out of 3 against these guys. They do have some very good players. That 2nd baseman was something. I don't think he lets anything get by him.

well, if you don't win the 1st game you have no chance to sweep.

WSU chances of sweeping before tonight game: 33%
WSU chances of sweeping after tonight game: 48%

Man that game was a lot of fun! That bottom of the ninth was very exciting. We out "dirt-bagged" the dirtbags in that inning. Long Beach is the one that is known for scratching and clawing out runs any way they can. We did it in the bottom of ninth.

That game was not at all what I expected. I expected a very low scoring pitchers duel not a 8-7 game with 26 hits.

Long Beach has now lost 9 games this year by 1 run. That has to be tough. GO SHOX!
